Everybody saying this is good for the state with this game at Invesco.Ya, it's good for the state to see two 3-9 teams battling it out in a 76,000 seat stadium??? I bet the entire upper bowl is empty for this game next year.

I am guessing somewhere around 60K, maybe 65K with some nice walk-up sales.

There will be a lot of fair weather fans that only attend one game (for both teams). Hope is down right now, but I bet we will be at least a LITTLE pumped when the season starts even though Hawk is back.

I hope Fox picks it up nationally again. Ratings have been good for them, I think, so let's hope. It's really a nice payday for CU all around.

I disagree, with both teams struggling so much this season but the CU-CSU game being a close game, I think alot of fans will see that game as one of the winnable matchups and a "set the tone" for the year type game.

This is now a true rivalry game.

Winnar is 2nd worst D-1 team in CO.

Has the potential to help with in-state recruiting and expanding the fan base. But not if they lose.

I'm sure CSU thought their win this year would have "set the tone" for their season.

Sure, in hindsight noone knew what the rest of the season held for either team. But they would have bought tickets going into the game, just like CU fans would have.

Now that both teams suffered through horrible seasons, this game next year becomes even more important for both schools, and therefore fan support will still be there.

From a national perspective the teams appear evenly matched so it will make for a good game.

Another gem by bohn, inking a 10 year deal to play at invesco. Hey mike, let's play this game on thursday night and play 2 days later at Cal

Good thing we are, by any objective measure, on the same level as CSU. Hawkins really has turned htis thing around.

I disagree.

Few things are more objective than a score. We are on a lower level than CSU.

All I know is I landed in Phoenix in the morning from my Big Island vacation and got on an afternoon plane to Denver to see the Spring Game. I won't be doing that next year.

Get ready for the Denver media to crank up the rivalry aspect.
The only play in the media playbook is to stir the pot with the same tired old "brother against brother" and "a family divided" storyline. The hate angle sells seats. The CU fan base will get their buttons pushed with reminders of how CSU fans danced on Folsom field. "The Buffaloes want revenge." Blah, blah, blah.

The CSU fans will be demanding legitimacy based upon last year's victory and their association with a surging TCU/Utah/BYU lead MWC.

Somehow we'll be told how this game is good for football and how it's good for the state.

The fact of the matter is that the RMS was restarted almost two decades ago when the football programs were more relevant then than they are now. If the RMS has realy helped football in the state of Colorado, then it's contribution is too little, too late. Colorado football takes a back seat to Utah, Arizona and Idaho within the mountain time zone. Both Colorado programs are basement dwellers in their respective conferences. How much worse off would football be in Colorado without the RMS?

The only difference is that CU sucks on the Big 12 teet and is rewarded more hansomly for losing. Little bro will remain envious of CU's uncanny ability to squander ten or twenty million dollars associated with its BCS conference revenue sharing subsidies, and still get beat.

The RMS and it's neutral location has become the defacto bowl game for both programs. The game takes place at the only possible time in the schedule when neither school has a losing record.

Seeing that neither school can fill their much smaller campus stadiums, the RMS is the tribute to the pathetic level of college football support on the front range. As Easter is to fairweather Christians, the RMS is to college football fans in Denver. If you go to that one game, you can punch you fan card for the year.

This would have been a great game for the state if Shanny had decided to save us. Wonder if he could have made it a sell out?

I must have missed someting (5th generation Coloradan) along the way. I have generations of family/friends who have gone to either school. I don't get how this is a rivalry. Its two teams from different conferences. CU should win 4/5 or better. It should only be news when CSU wins........sadly there is alot of news lately.
