i expect that we will hear basically nothing of substance from hawkins now until the recruiting luncheon. bohn has done all the damage control he can do at this point. hawkins will, i suspect, be told the stay under the radar for awhile now.

so, as we head into the heart of the recruiting season, let us hope that this staff has a few tricks up their sleeves and that they can bring in some playmakers.

i believe the vast majority of fans are very unhappy with the state of the program (rightfully so), but what is done is done now.

if hawkins is going to be here next season, we aren't doing anything useful by continuing to point out the staff's many, many failings.

let's all agree that, to date, they have failed. many of us also believe that the prospect of this staff turning it around may be slim. but, for better or worse, we are now tied to hawkins (and whomever he has on his staff) for another year. so, i will wish him success because if they succeed, the program succeeds.

like many others, i have expressed my views to the administration. this is all we can do at this point. we are, unfortunately, just passengers on the train.

i am not advocating for censorship, but i am advocating for sense. the more negativity that abounds here and on the other boards, the less helpful it is to recruiting efforts. perhaps we all (myself included) can engage in a little self-moderation?

just a thought...

Think again, dickwad.:smile2:

That is pretty much what I've been trying to say. That is that all the negativity and bashing of Hawkins reflects on the program. Let us hope that Hawkins does a bit of reflecting, analyzes where he's gone wrong, and turns it around. Many successful people have learned from failure, IMO. Personally, I think he can turn it around.

I'm with Liver and am not piling on.

My displeasure will be shown with attire.

For x-mas, I am asking for a new t-shirt to wear to the games, though.

This is exactly why there's no pressure to do anything with Hawkins. This "What's done is done" attitude and "Well, he's here for another year so we might as well accept it" is exactly what the admin is hoping for.

I'm curious, what do you think is honestly going to change in the next nine months before the 2010 season from a constant barrage of e-mails and sports talk calls ripping the administration? You are free to do what you want, but I think it will end up being a futile effort.

I don't THINK anything is going to change. I do KNOW that nothing will change unless people keep the heat on the administration. Giving up and accepting it just ensures that Hawkins will be here until his contract runs out.

Seriously, the blind devotion to things is crazy. "Oh we may have a ****ty coach, but that's life, LETS GO BUFFS" That's ridiculous. You can still root for the Buffs and continue to put heat on the administration.

If everyone rolls over and accepts it for what it is and stops pressuring the administration, the administration is going to realize that all they have to do is filter their e-mail for a week and then people will go away. They'll realize that they can do anything they want and we'll just accept it as long as there's still a team on the field.

It's not about effecting change now, we're ****ed, we're stuck with this idiot and his band of merry douchebags next year. It's about letting the administration know that what they're doing is unacceptable and that they better take this more seriously in the future. That the fans won't just get bored, and go away accepting whatever crap they shove down our throats.

I have lost a lot of faith in this program. I am tired of bitching and complaining. The AD, admin and our HC have let us known what they expect. Ventng on a messageboard will not help us get rid of our HC. Only pressure on the Regents is the only thing that could bring change and being an out of stater I really have no say. I'm more apathetic now more than ever regarding the state of the FB program. Hopefully we can bring in a good class. It'll be a long offseason.

You can put heat on the admin with out bitching on here all f'ing day. Infact I'd imagine the admin give precisely 2 ****s what is said on here.

 What the **** does that have to do with posting on a message board? Is allbuffs bookmarked by Benson and DiStefano? Nobody asked you to stop sending e-mails, he just suggested maybe toning it down on an internet forum.

I do not think anyone is rolling over and accepting anything. But I do have better things to do with my time than come on this site and bitch incessantly for the next nine months or to craft daily/weekly e-mails to DiStefano. If that amounts to me "rolling over," so be it. What is said on Allbuffs makes no difference, none whatsoever. But again, have at it if you really want to spend an entire football offseason doing that.

I'd like to say that I have said all I am going to say on the topic. All I can say is I'll try to "be positive". I, with juicebox in hand, will commit to that.

I do agree with others that keeping up the e-mail campaign is probably the most logical course. I doubt it will change this decision, but a vocal presence in support of winning FB can't hurt.

I keep having this recurring dream about being on a chairlift with DiStefano....

:yeahthat:

Nobody is saying that people who post here have to stop contacting the administration. What Liver is saying is that posting the same complaints that have already been posted here 1,000,000 times in the last 2 weeks is pointless. Particularly if it's the same complaint coming from the same person over and over again. Pointless AND annoying...

Dan Hawkins sucks as a football coach at CU and so does our football team as long as he is here. Even if he goes on to win more games than he loses next year, he is still a loser and is still the guy that lost to Montana State, got blown out by Toledo, went 2-10, and 3-9 with a team that should have been no worse than a Bowl team. It is obvious to everyone (even if DBT doesn't want to admit it) that he his tenure at CU will end with him being fired while never really winning anything here and the longer he is here the farther our program sinks. Get behind him if you want but you are just wasting everyone's time.

And yes, I fully believe he will have a far better season than this year's.

Go Buffs!

I have no problem with what Liver is saying except I would like to point out...most of what is posted is reactionary so things will quiet down if...

Hawkins does not continue to try to shower us with excuses.

AND

Certain posters don't continuously try to pump unrealistic sunshine about Hawkins up my ***.

You wouldnt have anything to post about if you couldnt bag on Hawkins. I can see why this would be tough for you.

A simple "no" would have sufficed.

Maybe Hawkins shouldn't make it so easy for me.

 That's one thing about this - Hawk has made it damn hard for us to quit talking him for the last week with the endless stream of gaffes.

Yesterday afternoon on Fox Rocky Mountain they had a season recap show. I think "Football Roundup" was the name? Anyway, they interviewed Hawkins, and while it wasn't fantastic, it was definitely the best job I've heard him do yet of talking about the state of things. Admitted the results are DEFINITELY unacceptable, talked about how they've GOT to get the penalty situation cleaned up, especially the ones like false starts, delay of games and those kind of sloppy things - and says they have some ideas of what to work on there...

It was nice to hear an interview like that, that wasn't full of excuses and finger pointing, wasn't talking about being "close" and everything was almost ready to "pop" and addressed some real problems as they see them. I hope Bohn saw it and pointed out to Dan that this was a better approach than "the place was burned to the ground..." I think they're supposed to run it again, at least once this weekend sometime...

BTW, they also interviewed Hansen on that show, and he was talking about the returning receivers, plus Clemons and the redshirt freshmen. Basically, he said that if he doesn't throw for a lot of yards next year with those guys on the field, "I have got to be the worst QB in the world"...
