nice, now the only thing missing is someone kicking me in the balls........I guess I will find an Hawkins interview, that should be close enough...:sad1:

I'd like to see how many coaches have left/lost jobs and what their records are?
I'm only thinking Mangino, Weis, and the guy from Portland State, but are there others?

edit, never mind, only KU would be in a BCS conference.

I'll count ND as part of the BCS.

Retired:
Bobby Bowden (Florida State) 6-6 (4-4)

"Resigned"/Fired:
Mark Mangino (Kansas) 5-7 (1-7)
Steve Kragthorpe (Louisville) 4-8 (1-6)
Charlie Weis (Notre Dame) 6-6
Al Groh (Virginia) 3-9 (2-6)

So Groh had the same conference and overall record as Hawkins. Kragthorpe and Mangino had better overall but worse conference records.

That's it.. I can't believe you guys keep bring up facts that are showing us in a negative light.. dammit, unleash you are hurting recruiting and this program.. Stop being so negative.. I believe in Hawk.. This team is so damn close, its almost ready to POP..

Just wanted to get in before DBT

Of the five BCS vacancies, only Bowden's job has been filled. Between four jobs that are open, there should be some room for ADs to be selective as there seems to be less competition than in previous years. Of course if one guy jumps ship at a program to fill one of these then his job is open and the cycle continues. Are there any other jobs you see opening after bowl games play out?

If NU loses their bowl game on some last second field goal or something, Bo will lose his mind

CU should reconsider their OOC scheduling philosophy IMO.

Texas' OOC schedule is shameful, but I think CU is too far on the other extreme.

Why play GA and Cal in the same year? One tough game is fine, but I think you need to use the others to work out the kinks and still put up a W.

I think Boulder Buff said that the schedule gets softer after 2010..

But I do agree.. Georgia and Cal is way too hard for a program like CU..

I'll take the money from those matchups. And to be fair, when the scheduling's tougher like this I will take the head coach to task more for what he does in conference games, i.e. the ones the school plays every year. I can accept 7-5 next year knowing two of the losses were to those schools. CSU and Toledo were inexcusable losses.

I agree. In the new BCS world, 6 wins and you are in a bowl if you are from the Big 12. Wins against FCS teams count too if they are not used too often I believe. Nobody cares who you beat at 6 - 6, 7 -5, 8 -4. Style points do not matter until you start to get to BCS bowl talk. All that really matters is the extra practice you get, the experience for the players and the ability to say, we went to a bowl game last year.

Everybody else has seemed to figure it out: 3 - 4 EASY non-conference wins and you can be real mediocre in the Big 12 and still go bowling. Why can't we?

I have heard all the arguments, "we don't want to be KU, KjsU, bugeaters, etc." Guess what, when the bar has been lowered to 6 wins across the country, it is a race to get there. Now that we play in the BIG 12 and everybody is on TV, we will have plenty of chances to show what we can do.

Also I know we had a somewhat weak OOC schedule this year but it doesn't compare to most. CSU - we are their superbowl, never can look past that game plus it is the first game of the season. Toledo - Road, nationally televised game, superbowl-type atmosphere to them. Wyo - Now we are getting it. West Virginia - very tough.

CU's schedule was pretty tame this year...that is why people thought they would win eight...going to the original post. CU lost to CSU, KSU, Toledo, and ISU. None of those teams scare too many teams. CU's record this year was set up to go to a Bowl game they just did not get it done.

Whoa there.

Wyoming is playing in the New Mexico Bowl. They get more practice time and reps and we don't. WTF? They beat CSU and are in a bowl. Ugh.

Isn't that why we played CSU and Toledo?
