CU reduced to selling used equipment to make money

Well, doesn't the music school sell used instruments to make money? Should we fire the head of the music school?

They've been doing that for a long time now. And no I haven't bought one.

You are correct. Every off-season they sell the old gear. It is also a great way to get authentic CU game worn gear for a decent price. Good for autographs at the spring game.

Eh. If you want to toss down $300 for one now go ahead. I picked up one at the spring game for $30 at the CU "Garage Sale" they hold before the game. Still kicking myself for not picking up some of the golf shorts they were selling for $10.

$300 for a jersey - this is probably the work of the B-school. That seems expensive to me - can't cost this much new??!!

I'll also add that state law prohibits the AD from "giving" stuff away. They either have to sell it for FMV or toss it.

If $300 is fmv I would hate to see what he deducts on his tax return for charitable donations. :smile2:

When I worked for the fed they would not let you take home an empty cardboard box because it was "gubment property" even though it was in the dumpster.:wow:

My neighbor is a prof in the music school. The used equipment isn't from the school but a consignment deal with a company. Basically the music school gets a small commission for hosting the used instrument sale.

Exactly, I have a game worn captain's home jersey hanging in the basement. Worth much more to me than a new one.

This^^^

I also got a sweet pair of CU basketball shoes for like $5, normally probably over $100.

so where is the spring garage sale at? I remember the game this year was very cold and rainy.

I'm hoping to get some game worn silver basketball shorts at the spring game this year.

I think my black game worn 98 jersey cost me $25...not $300. I got it at the garage sale. Anyone know when that is again?

Best selection is usually during the day of the spring game at the old balch fieldhouse on the westside of folsom. I think it's scheduled for sometime in april of 2010. I remember the weather at this years spring game was nice.
