Unofficial, but multiple online sources are saying it's gonna happen.

Assuming the innerwebzers have it right:

Who do you want as our WR coach?

Here are a few names I've seen suggested (or people have claimed as possibilities):

- Kiesau moves from QBs back to WRs, making room for Dirk Koetter to come in as Co-OC and QB Coach.

- Cedric Cormier, current WR Coach at Miami(OH) and former Buff player

- Skyler Fulton, current graduate assistant at CU who did a lot of the WR coaching this season; ex-BCS and NFL WR

- Robin Pflugrad, current WR Coach at Montana, formerly WR Coach at Oregon and WR Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at Arizona State & Washington State

I thought our wideouts made tremendous progress and were well coached last season, NOT.

I want a real life wideout coach. We have some talent at that position and would like to see it reach it's potential.

Leave Eric where he is and keep Hawkins out of the position coaching. If it was up to me I would let him keep the headset on but he wouldn't have a mic. Let his assistant's do the coaching.

Credit where credit is due. That is one decision that makes sense.

WR coach? What about Matt Lubick? Good recruiter, suffering in the heat in AZ. Dennis the Menace recently reshuffled his staff, maybe Matt would like to come back to CO.

Ced Cormier would be nice too.

If Koetter coming in with Kiesau going back to WR is a possibility, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Koetter may not have done great at ASU HC'ing, but he is a solid offensive coordinator in my opinion. He and Hawk have a good relationship, and if my memory is correct, Koetter is sort of a mentor to Hawk from their BSU days. Hawk would let Koetter coach without interfering...hopefully.

I like Ced Cormier, but I'd want the previous scenario first. I'm also confused on Pflugrad - he sees to be getting demoted each place he goes.

This is a from a friend currently attending UH for grad school:

Tony Levine

He can coach WRs and special teams. Houston recruiting ties.

And yes, this is a pipe dream.

Michael Westbrook... if we are not going to beat teams on the scoreboard, at least we can beat them up.

I thought we already had a receiver coach from last year. What's wrong with him?

Also, I will give credit to Hawkins for this move. It it the right move, I just hope he brings in a coach from the outside. Promoting Fulton would be a poor move IMO.

I agree. While every indication is that Fulton is a good coach, I believe this offense needs the steadying influence of a coach who's been doing it for a lot of years. I'd love a Bob Foster type guy for the offense, actually.

(And I love the Koetter talk.)

I also think recruiting connections need to be a consideration for this hire. Even if this staff gets fired next season, recruiting relationships with the Buffs can still be made this season.

Whichever coach would do the best job at keeping the O-line from commiting stupid offsides & motion penelties etc, is the coach they need. Not sure if Fulton or Koetter can instill that kind of focus / disipline?

what is koetter up to these days, still in coaching? i'd like to see hawk bring back in embree as wr coach. kill a lot of birds with that hire, coaching, recruiting and heal a lot of riffs between hawk and the ex players/fans.

Koetter is currently the OC for the Jaguars.

I'd like to get Koetter above all else, if we can't do that then Cormier would probably be a solid coach. From TX, young guy, hungry hopefully. After that anything that isn't Hawk coaching WRs again is a win.

wonder if Rod Smith would come down and help out at all. He's a guy that has a love for the game of football. Doubt he would want to be the WR coach...but just if he came down once in awhile to help the kids out would be better than what we have!

I know that he worked with Kenny Britt before last years draft.

Pretty sure that's an NCAA violation - can't bring in outside coaches or consultants if memory serves.

The Rod Smith talk is interesting to me for several reasons:

- He made it in the NFL as a technician and tireless worker (not raw talent). Usually those types make great coaches.

- He would be a great publicity hire at a time when CU football could stand to get some positive local press and some national attention.

- He would give us the inside track to Mullen WR Rayshon Williams through the mentoring relationship Rod has with Brandon Marshall. May also help improve our overall relationship with Logan and the Mullen program, actually.

There is no chance Koetter comes to CU to be the Co-OC under Dan Hawkins.

Koetter built BSU, Hawkins sustained it. Koetter failed at ASU, Hawkins has failed at CU. Koetter will not work under Hawkins as a Co-OC...

Not what the talk has been. Koetter and Hawkins have a great relationship. Koetter isn't happy in the pro game and would like to get back into college. There weren't very many college HC jobs that opened up this year and he wasn't mentioned for the ones that did. If he wants to return to college, a stop off at CU would go a long way to getting Koetter back as a hot candidate if CU turned things around next year.

Really, it makes a lot of sense for both of them right now. They need each other.

That would be tremendous.

Koetter's ASU team underacheived, but he had some damn good talent on those teams. Don't see it happening, but could only be good for CU if it did imo.
