Kyle Benson (LB)
Brandon Golden (ATH)
Jeremy Langford (RB)
Adam Muema (RB)
Dontrell Onuahu (DT)
A.J. Powell (S)
Keith Smith (LB)

Out of this group, I would like to land Benson, Langford, and Onuahu in the end. I would be surprised if we do not get commitments from Langford and at least a couple of the Covina teammates (Golden, Muema, Powell, Smith).

I'm pretty high on Powell. We need a safety and that guy is a playmaker. If he was 2 inches taller, I believe he'd be ranked right there with the half dozen great safeties coming out of Cali this year.

I'd love to see us get Benson, Golden, Langford, and Onuahu. Powell, like buffnik said, seems to be a big time playmaker for that team, so he'll probably be a nice get.

Some question as to whether Onuahu will be here this weekend. If he does not make it here, that is not good news.

According to Rivals, here are the other schools who have offered the above visitors:
Brandon Golden: Washington State (worst BCS school in the country)
Jeremy Langford: Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State
Adam Muema: Nevada, San Diego State, UTEP
Dontrell Onuahu: SDSU, Fresno State, UTEP, Nevada, UNLV
A.J. Powell: Colorado State, New Hampshire, New Mexico, UTEP
Keith Smith: Air Force, Nevada, Utah, UTEP

Unless Hawkins and his staff are better evaluators than coaches at other big-time schools, this is going to be one seriously bad recruiting year.

Maybe we'll just end up with more "sleepers" than we have in any Hawkins class so far

WHat?? Aren't you forgetting about the history of player development under Hawk?

It is certainly a group that is not going to wow people. But at this point, we need bodies. Unfortunately, that is where we stand.

I am sure that everyone would like to see us going head to head with USC, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. Just not the case this year. We have to hope the CU staff can identify guys that can come in and play at this level.

I think you can find players but definitely is a higher risk approach to building a program.

Unfortunately this is what we are looking at right now. We haven't had a winning season in the last four years. We were 3-9 last year including losses to a CSU team that went 3-9 and lost it's last 7. We got smashed on national TV against the mighty University of Toledo. We lost to Iowa State, Kansas State, Missery dropped half a hundred on us.

We have a coach who many think should have been fired this year and had his job saved by a political situation. It is very likely that short of a major turn-around in record he will be fired at the end of next season when his buy-out is $850,000 less and the election is over.

We have our highest profile recruit in the last 10 years leaving the program and announcing he is transfering (now might stay but the public image has been made.)

In the face of all this one of the biggest factors for recuits is the relationship they build with the coach that is recruiting them and the HC they will be playing for. Any recruit who is thinking about that has to wonder who will be the HC and the staff in 10 months.

What we can offer recruits is a chance to play in the Big XII at a school that has a long term history of prominence and success. We offer a great education on a campus that is second to none in a location that is magnificent. We have a young team that is waiting to step forward and win.

Is this all enough to counter the negatives in the first part of the post, for some yes but for many who have other quality options no. The result we go for the best we can get in the circumstances hoping that in the long run they work out.

The blowout losses can get confusing sometimes. There are just so many of them.

Hey, after losing to a team 55-10 and 58-0, only giving up 33 points in the first half the third time around is a hell of an accomplishment. Who cares if their entire offense went to the NFL!

It's happened so often recently that they run together. This year we "held" them to only 36. Of course they had 33 in the first half and put it into cruise control for the second so if we had posed any credible threat they probably would have put up 50.

Adam from rivals is saying no commits from this weekend's visitors. That is disappointing.

Good Lord, our recruiting competition now is CSU, Bowling Green, UTEP, Nevada, and Eastern Michigan. Say good night Dan!

Gonna be interesting to see what happens in January. Several of these guys are taking at least one more visit. The numbers are making me very uneasy right now.

No worries, we'll take 15, and then give the rest of the scholly's to walk ons.

We have a good program in a beautiful location in a power conference. Dan will find quality young men to mold. Say what you will, the guy is a tireless worker and quality human being.

As you know (but to summarize):

No word on Dunn yet. I'll wait until we hear from him before I get excited one way or the other. If we end up pulling a 4* WR, I'll call this weekend a success.

Benson is a CU or UA decision. He'll visit Arizona, compare, and we'll know. That was the plan all along. I really want to land him, though.

Langford is a CU or MSU decision. He'll visit Michigan State, dito, dito, dito.

Other than that, it was the 4 teammates (Powell, Muema, Golden, Smith). I'm not certain that those offers were committable at this stage.
