Re: '10 JUCO QB Dominique Blackman

Blackman originally committed to Washington, but had some clearinghouse issues (kind of like Josh Moten). He ended up going to LA Harbor CC and playing this year as a freshman, but is also set to graduate this month. He would come in as a sophomore and have 4 years to play 3.

Blackman's BCS offers were Iowa State and Colorado. CU offered very late, after he had already given a verbal to Old Dominion to play 1-AA ball (ISU had settled on a different JC quarterback). There is some question on whether Blackman sent in his LOI paperwork or not. Rivals and Scout say he has. ESPN does not. Further, the Old Dominion web site for their football team does not make an announcement.

Finally, Scout ran an article just yesterday on Blackman that would seem to conflict with reports that he would have signed a LOI with ODU:

“Right now, I’m fully qualified so I can leave here in December and be a 4-for-3 guy (four years to play his three seasons),” said Blackman. “I’m taking a look at all of these schools, but if the right school doesn’t offer, I’ll maybe come back here and play another year. But as of right now, I don’t want to play JC ball anymore. I’m ready to go. If I have to wait until after the spring to sign, I will have no problem with that.”

Because he was a class short of qualifying, which he ultimately completed last year, with plans to enroll in January of 2009 at Washington, Blackman doesn’t need to complete his A.A.

“I had a really good year,” said Blackman. “I was coming out of the gun more so that helped me a lot. I threw for 3,711 yards and 35 touchdowns and only threw nine picks. I also rushed for 378 yards and six touchdowns. So I was getting it done with my arm and legs.”

Blackman said he has no favorite, but is seriously interested in several schools.

“Colorado is coming to see some of my film and there is still a possibility for an offer from North Carolina and Kentucky. Arkansas State and Old Dominion have both offered so I’m interested in them both. And I’m still hoping for UCLA, I just have to see what their situation is,” said Blackman.

==========

The CU offer was not reported until today. Blackman made a visit to ODU last weekend. Very confusing.

Rep to the 1st person who can definitively figure out Blackman's status.

Hawk should be in desperation mode at this point...if he has a lick of sense....bring in Dominique and every other possible candidate to fix Hawk's problems.

Re: '10 JUCO QB Dominique Blackman

An interesting thread from last season.
If you read the posts, a guy called \"HarborOC\" who claims to be the OC at Harbor is part of the conversation. Just seems odd.

And then a guy claiming to be Blackman comes in at the end. Sounds like Sark tried to make him a TE at Washington (he played volleyball in HS, btw), Blackman wanted a shot at QB, and that's why he didn't stick there after he ended up greyshirting.

I really like the idea of Blackman filling the sophomore hole on our QB depth chart. And if he doesn't work out there, filling the sophomore hole on our TE depth chart.

Re: '10 JUCO QB Dominique Blackman

Sounds like this kid pretty much wants to play big time ball. We should be recruiting him.
