Re: '10 CO MLB Brian Caggiano

CU hasn't offered yet. Caggiano is a 2-sport athlete and was torn between baseball and football. According to a new article at Rivals, Caggiano is now thinking football and he loves CU. He's visited for games and supposedly we will offer.

Anyone seen him play? His competition level is about as good as it gets in Colorado high school football.

The ESPN evaluation made it seem that he's not a BCS linebacker (not good enough hips), so maybe he's another Will Pericak and will be converted to defensive line. He's certainly got the frame for it.

Caggiano made the All-Colorado team this year. Congratulations!

His coach is putting his senior film together for him and will be sending it out to all the Big 12 schools.

"CU said they are interested but they are deep at the linebacker position and maybe if I would switch positions and play defensive end, maybe I could play there," Caggiano said. "That is fine with me.

"I really like CU because they play in the Big 12. I know they had a little bit of a down season but I think they are better than they actually played. I feel like they just need to work the little kinks out."

As a linebacker, I wasn't high on Caggiano. You can watch his junior year video at his ESPN page. He simply didn't have Big 12 speed, imo, to play LB. But as a DE, he'd be a nice addition to this class. With his frame, he can put on the weight and become an athletic defensive lineman. Maybe another Pericak.

Oh my goodness. That sentence alone should net him an offer. Sounds so familiar.

I know. It sounds like he did his interview immediately after speaking with Coach Hawkins. :smile2:

I think we all pretty much agree with Hawkins that CU should have been better than a 3-9 team last year. And most of us, I think, can go along with a belief that the team is gaining more than it lost (experience, talent, speed, depth).

But after such a disappointing season in 2009, Hawkins and staff have got to show us that they have corrected these "little things" to win back the confidence of the fan base. 2010 is definitely a SHOW ME year for CU football where they have got to turn potential into reality.

Brian accepted an offer to join the Wyoming squad as a Preferred Walk On next season. Best of luck to him.

And it's nice to see Wyoming getting these type of kids instead of CSU.
