Coach Whittingham of the Utah Utes commented in the interview after their bowl win over Cal and said "Our success is tied to our players work ethic, we don't have any magic formula. It's how our team goes about their business, work ethic & focus"

Does anyone here believe those are qualities missing in the Buffs program?

I do!

And by the way, I heard one of the announcers mention during the game that the QB for the Utes at one time had originally commited to the Buffs.

The guy is a true freshman! How did we lose him?:wow:

Jordan Wynn

He wanted early playing time and saw Cody, Tyler and Clark on the CU roster, but knew he had little competition elsewhere. Good player.

Here's a thread about him.

I'll agree the Buffs lack focus. All the mental errors last season are testament to that (offsides & other non-aggression penalties, blown coverages, missed blocking assignments, wrong routes, bad reads, etc.).

But I don't believe it's fair to say our guys don't have a good work ethic. I know of only a couple guys on the roster that fit that description. For the most part, the guys who don't want to work transfer out of here (then fans bitch on the internet about how they should have played more / how devastating it was to lose them).

The Utes played like a Military school, believed in each other and in the game plan the coaches put together. Fun team to watch play college ball

An oversimplification, as has been discussed before, a team of Rudy's will have a great work ethic, but will not win a lot of games.

I heard a lot of griping about Hawkins not playing our best guys and lunch pales and hard hats. That's what this is about. We want it both ways.

The programs that are over-achieving (TCU, BYU, Utah, Boise State) have that culture well engrained. It was at Utah well before Kyle W. took over as head coach.

I think CU's staff has held to our guns on the same issues and it's slowly changing. Even 5-star guys aren't treated with kids gloves. That's an issue most of these over-achievers never deal with. They never get mini-celebrities as freshmen. They get a bunch of overlooked, underappreciated guys with chips on their shoulders....

Intresting opinion.

Interesting choice of words. Which incompetent part of the staff are you? My guess is Collins since he has a ton of free time from not bothering to recruit anyone.
