Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Hemschoot has flown completely under the radar this year. But one of his coaches played for Oregon recently and has been able to get him some late attention. Hemschoot has visits scheduled to Oregon (1/16) and USC (1/22). Coach Cabral is meeting with him tomorrow at Lakewood.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Very easy to fly under the radar at Lakewood High School.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

unbelievable story though all the same. I get the funny feeling Oregon will have the inside track with his mentor being a former Duck.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Wow USC? Hopefully Hawk is all over this guy if he is getting USC's attention.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Also, Hemschoot is only 16 years old. Lots of room to develop.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Rivals reports that CU has now offered and set up an official visit for January 8th.

So far, Hemschoot's only other off is from Northern Colorado (but visits to Oregon and USC are still scheduled). I guess Cabral liked what he saw on film.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Hemschoot has set his visit schedule:

Colorado (offered) - January 8th weekend
Stanford (offered) - January 11th week
USC - January 16th weekend
Oregon - January 22nd weekend

He plans on deciding after the Oregon trip, so it looks like we're going to be sweating this one out.

So it's not looking too good for Northern Colorado at this point??

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

He's visiting USC on an official visit on their dime. The only Colorado kid to be able to claim that for awhile I think. I'd say he can play.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Watched his film, but didn't see him live. He's a very aggressive linebacker. Flows well and then has great burst to shoot the gap and make the tackle. My unbiased opinion is that he's a much better prospect than most of the 3* LBs we had previously offered (especially since he's only 16 and still developing).

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

I watched his highlight video for the first time. Damn.:wow:

Really hope we can win this recruiting battle against the Pac-10 heavyweights.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

I need to watch his clips. You know the guy can play if USC is taking a look. One of the biggest things with lb's to me is how quick they diagnose a play and find the football. Ray Lewis is the best ive seen at that but Im not very old. I agree with BB on this, we should take 4 lbs and, in the very least, 4 dlinemen.

Re: '10 CO OLB Joe Hemschoot

Rivals is reporting that USC, Stanford and Colorado all consider Hemschoot the #1 linebacker on their boards. (Info from Carroll, Harbaugh and Cabral)

Let's pray he wants to stay close to home.

Wow their #1? Hard to think we can beat out USC and Stanford this year, but if anyone is going to get it done it's Cabral.

Getting this guy sure would alleviate some of the pain of losing all of the other in state guys this year.

Scout's got a new article on his visit this weekend:

"I had a good time," Joe Hemschoot said of his visit to Boulder. "It was fun. Everybody was really nice."

Hemschoot said he was hosted on his visit by CU linebacker Jon Major, who was the top recruit in the state just two years ago. He said he and Major got along well and answered all his questions.

Colorado is recruiting him to play the WILL linebacker spot. His primary contact with the program is longtime linebackers coach Brian Cabral, whom Hemschoot called "one of the best coaches in the country."

"I feel like if he was guiding me along in that process, I could really help CU," he said of learning to play at the college level.

Hemschoots...CU' scores. (I hope). Another LB would be a nice addition.

Hopefully the USC situation leaves them in the rear view mirror, Oregon has yet to offer so hopefully they aren't going after him too hard. That just leaves us and Stanford, so maybe a stroke of recruiting luck will hit and Harbaugh will take an NFL job.

Judging by that story, it sounds like he likes CU and would probably commit if the situation wasn't so dire. He specifically said he wants stability in his choice, so the coaching situation might be a scare, then again Cabral is recruiting him and has been at CU for 20 years, if that isn't stability I don't know what is.

Sounds like a typical first official visit reaction to me. I am sure he likes us, but this one is going to take some work.
