Would you take Mike Leach as CU's HC?

I'm not crazy about his style of offense, but dammit, he wins games in the tougher of our divisions. Furthermore, I kind of like his character. He cracks me up in his interviews. So yes, I wouldn't be upset if CU went a courtin'.

If I were Tech's AD, I would be doing everything I could to "cover up" any negative evidence towards Leach.

The debate has gone on and there are many who don't think it's as big of a deal. Leach will be snatched up quickly... Hopefully (dreaming) by CU.

Agreed. But at least he has an offensive identity, rather than uh... whatever the **** it is you call what CU does.

HELLS YEA!!! He knows how to get people for his system too not just good kids who can do some things but don't fit anything.

The Tech AD isn't going to cover up anything. I think they want him gone, because he's an oddball and more than a bit non politically correct.

He would get the feminists in a rage in about 24 minutes so I don't think it'd be a good fit. I do think he'd win 9 games next year with our current team, assuming he has a DC and Special Team coach who can keep the score below 40.

hell ya, in a heartbeat....guy can coach and compete in the same div. as Texas and Oklahoma....

Boulder would hate him, especially if he made football relevant at CU. The guy cracks me up and yes, he knows how to sustain a winning program with recruits who fit the system. Though I seem to be in the minority on this board I prefer a pass-heavy offense and his winning seasons in that town and division can't be argued with. I'd take Ruffin as DC too.

I would take him over Hawkins, but probably not any other B12 coach. I hate his gimmicky offense. His wins and stats are padded by playing a OOC that would embarrass Bill Snyder. What is his bowl record? I'm guessing it's sub .500. I want to run the ball, and this guy is the worst coach in the country at it.

Okay, his bowl game went poorly against a good Ole Miss team last year. Without looking it up, it seems he thumped UVA the year before that, and made an improbably comeback vs. Minnesota the year before that. I loved that game, it was incredible.

He's 5-4 in bowl games, not as bad as I thought.

I still hate him. What kind of grown man thinks he's a pirate?

the people in Boulder will sh*%t tofu if he even comes to town for a cup of pumpkin latte with no fat milk and a pinch of cinamon

Contrary to that perception, he actually has a decent rush attack. I would argue in the last 5 years the RB has been the most important position on the team, and they managed to keep Texas honest in the 2008 upset by running it close to 30 times. Woods and Batch had 4.7 and 5.1 YPC respectively.

Tech is ranked 118th in the nation in rushing.

The guy is a pretty funny asshole, but he would not be anywhere near the top of my list for coaching candidates.

"Cover up" come on, that's a great way to get in deeper $h!t. James father works for ESPN, can you imagine if they got wind of a cover up.
You are right about him getting snatched up quickly. We are stuck with the "Village Idiot", at least through 2010.

A product of the system, yes. With the backs and linemen Leach has recruited I would think they could be in the top half if they tried a balanced attack. If Leach were to come here but hire an OC with better rushing credentials we'd be on our way to something special. As others have said, not a top choice but I wouldn't refuse to listen were there mutual interest.

As HC no, and it would never happen. He's got some funny quotes but let's face it, with the mindset and feelings on football from the fem nazis and such in boulder, not many proven bcs coaches will come to boulder. They won't have the recruiting benefits or money they would at most schools.

Without hesitation.

I think there must be a way to impress upon the man that he would need to keep his fat girlfriend comments out of the media.
