Real Reason Behind Adam James Actions

Whether that is true or not, Craig James and his kid look like assholes.

Perhaps his desire to leave the program was what inspired Leach to be so ****ing vindictive as to lock him in a shed. imo, complaining about mistreatment like that doesn't make the James family the assholes.

It should be obvious to anyone watching Leach for the last 10 yrs that the guy is a dick.

I wasn't aware SMU and Tech played next season, but given the pussified OOC schedules that Leach lines up every year, he'll probably try to get out of playing an SMU team that wins games every now and then. SMU is probably the best OOC team he's played in 5 yrs.

What proof has been offered that the kid was locked in a shed? As far as I have been able to find, the kid was put into a training room and then into a press room. Both of which had bathrooms.

I sense Tech is going to pay out a damn sight more than they calculated - Leach fired guns via a taped interview yesterday saying he was going after "all parties" to the fullest extent of the law. I speculate that will be inclusive of James, ESPN and Tech.

Leach won't be there, so I doubt he'll care one way or the other.

He gets to put that Pepperdine Law degree to use finally.

Interesting to note, Leach never played a down of football in his life.

Shed, closet, training room, does it really matter? When you respond to a concussion by locking a player in a room and forcing him to stand there for hours with "medical staff" (read guards) posted outside the door, something is not right. You would think people would be taking concussions seriously these days, but I guess not. It was a clearly punitive move.

I don't buy the story, he could just ask for a release instead of going through all of this.

the wording used is pretty important considering we are left to imagine what ttech facilities are like. the description of locked inside of a dark closet with guards patrolling with standing room only paints a very different picture to me than garage sized training facility with medical staff on site.

Just get craig james off espn/abc and doing bowl games. He has no business being there at this time.

Again I have a problem with the wording of the scenario. From what I have seen bantered around: 1. James was not "locked" anywhere, 2. It was not a super small room - rather they were darkened facilities (with a bathroom, so James would have had space to move), and 3. Staff were present inside the room, rather than outside.

The discrepencies between the parties (Pony Jr and Sr, Tech administration, and training staff) lead me to suspect that James' account is sensationalized. It DOES make a big difference the particulars, as one response is reckless, and the other a rather normal response.

From what I gather, James did ask for one, and it was denied. Subsequently, he took footage of a closet. There is some great debate as to whether that was the location Leach asked him to be in.

I second that. It appears to me that Pony Sr. is singlehandedly responsible for crushing two great programs.

He was originally slated to work Tech's bowl game but he will not work that game now. Haven't heard if they plan on using him for any other bowl games.

Sure seems like it. IMHO, it looks bad when spoiled coaches son and dad get coach fired and then james is on doing his bowl games and playing the victim . I understand the parent aspect of it but Tech moved awful quickly on this.

I agree. It appears that Tech made absolutely no attempt to fact gather. Instead, they shoved a paper in front of Leach demanding that he sign it in which he admits guilt for the James incident. It could be that it went down exactly as James said - either way, I favor establishing fact first.

Leach is doing himself a disservice by blasting the kid in the media, but that's his "style." But it sounds like the kid was restricted to a dark room by the trainer, at least according to one ESPN reporter. Maybe that was done by direction of Leach, but it hardly sounds fire-worthy. TT's "cause" claim may not hold water.

Comical...James did not single-handedly bring down SMU (assuming that is what you meant).....:argh:

strictly speaking, you are correct. there were hands involved in shuffling him mad cash. however, james was up to his ears in involvement - and subsequently, the program has not since recovered.

And then where would our precious fan sites be? ****ing blasphemy...

The reasoning for the firing is pretty much irrelevant, at this point.

Tech was obviously looking for a reason to make a change, just like Kansas was looking for a reason to make a change.

Leach is a bit of a knucklehead, but he is a good coach.
