For the men's team, there is an opportunity to get to 10 non-conference wins if they are able to win at Tulsa on Saturday (and follow up with a home win versus a poor Miami-Ohio team). Tulsa started the season ranked in the Top 25 and even though they're currently on a 2-game losing streak, this is a very good team that will get NCAA tournament consideration this season. They are currently 9-3, but with a 9-0 home record that includes a 21 point blowout of Oklahoma State. Tulsa has a great 7-foot Center (Jerome Jordan) who is projected as a mid-1st round NBA pick. He's averaging 14.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per game... and he's only their 3rd leading scorer. They have guards Ben Uzoh at 16.7 ppg and Justin Hurtt at 14.3 ppg. Definitely a huge challenge against a talented, balanced team with a great home court advantage. Major program-changing win if the Buffs can pull the upset.

For the women's team, there is an opportunity to get a win against a Top 25 program before Big 12 play starts. The CU women are currently 9-2 (8-0 at home). AP #23 Virginia has been ranked pretty much every week and currently stands at 9-3. UVA's 3 losses have come at Georgia (AP #9), versus James Madison (AP #25) and Tennessee (AP #4). Last year, UVA beat CU by 34 points at their place. Just like the game against Seton Hall, the Buffs will be looking for revenge. A win by CU should get us some Top 25 votes and put us in position to make a serious run at the NCAA tournament.

The men need a road win in the worst way. Getting one in Tulsa would be HUGE, especially considering the competition. I feel like we play up or down to competition, we need a test.

The women are tough to read. A win against UVA could set up a tourney run though.

Let's root for them and send them positive energy. Maybe Basketball will start to be the main major sport at CU.

THUD......Too bad......

a sound we've got to be used to by now this sporting year thus far. CSU, Toledo....etc. Mizzou, KSU, and ISU even. all games where some optimism seemed justified to be met with the same thud as a raw, Christmas ham dropped from a height, landing flat side down....on a linoleum floor.

still think this (basketball) team can show some improvement at least. i was thinking Tech would be in the cellar but, contrary to my expertise, they've played some good ball. and are/were ranked. i was in the 5-7 win W in conference camp up to the CSU game. with Tech.....and Baylor having too much talent to not slide....having seen KSU and ISU play a couple times, i may be dialing that back a bit. i think we can beat OU at home though. get 3-4 more at home.

Another tough day.

Got to finish off the non-conference with wins and get ready for Big 12 play. I'm not sure that the Men's or Women's B12 have ever been tougher. Gonna be a difficult year to break through.

This is a bad year for cu sports, well make that the last 3-4. Miller has talent and shouldn't be getting drilled at home or losing to csu. Jeff and the men's team seem to have the same road problem that is plaguing cu athletics. Would someone please fix cu athletics and stand up and give a damn.

I give a damn...sure wish I could do something about it.
