I would prefer Tuberville there over anyone else. He seems to be WAYYYYYY conservative offensively. Everywhere he coaches, his teams seem to play close games dependent on the last drive of the game to win. It would be good to have some of those Tech playmakers go elsewhere.
May be good for CU. Tuberville is not going to continue to run the Leach offense, he is going to change the system entirely. Problem for him is that the talent there has been recruited specifically for the Leach offense so the transition will be very difficult and he is likely to lose a bunch of games. TT will return to the bottom of the south, especially with Baylor improving, it will no longer be a prime destination for those second level Texas HS kids meaning that more of them will be available for whoever replaces Hawk (soon, please, please, please.)
I don't see Tuberville staying in one place for a long time so after tearing down the old program and not quite building his new program he heads off and TT has to then start over, again. In the mean time they get beat down a bunch by Texas, OU, OSU, even aTm and Baylor making it harder to recover.

I hope they go with Tuberville.
Especially when you consider the other candidates mentioned.
Briles would enhance their Texas recruiting connections, Ruffin would hold the current class together (mostly defense this year), Dykes would maybe add some wrinkles to the running game to make that TT offense even better, and June Jones is probably the best spread offense mind there is while also being a great head coach.
Since Briles has a monumental buyout at Baylor, Jones has said he wants to retire at SMU and Texas Tech has said they want someone with Head Coach experience... it looks to me like it's going to be Tuberville. And that means a couple recruits could be in play for Colorado.

FWIW. Tuberville has hinted around at keeping the O staff and the Air Raid if he can get the Tech gig. If he lives up to that supposed suggestion is an open question, but if I were him, I'd keep the O, and overhaul the D. TT can coach D. He also could probably get airborne with those ears in the stiff West Texas wind....

Very few are better at picking DC's than Tommy Tubs. Probably some brand of ball-control offense on the other side of the ball. He's a master of the subtleties of field-position and clock management. Overall, I think TT will probably hold as #3 or #4 in the South division with Tubs at the helm. I think their chances of ever actually taking first place in their division or the conference in any particular year would go up. Leach's system had pretty well peaked, IMO.

Early in his career he was known to like to take risks on offense. I have a feeling that he would be a force to be dealt with at TT. The man can coach.
He was known as the "Riverboat Gambler" at Ole Miss, but that was mostly due to going for it on 4th downs and such. At Auburn, he played it very close to the vest. In fact, his offensive coaching was very frustrating at times because he was so reluctant to take risks. When he decided to scrap that strategy and hire Franklin, it blew up in his face and he ended up being fired.
He may be playing lip service to the Leach offense, but he will change it in short time if he actually gets the job.

I think he would be a good choice. If he follows what he did with his OCs before Franklin [just getting out of their way] he will do well at TT.
The guy went undefeated in the SEC. Sure Bama was down at the time and some of the other teams, but he still beat a ranked UGA, UT and LSU. His record against Bama was 7-3 with 6 of those 7 wins being 6 straight wins. Bama may have been down then, but they've never been a have-not. The guy would be a good hire for TT and would be a PITA for the other South teams, a lot more than Leach ever was, imo.
Not good imo, the guy is a pretty damn good coach. I'm not sure what will happen with the offense, but he'll make that defense a force.

Tubs is an excellent coach, but I don't think anyone will ever get TT to where they were with Leach just because of the gimmick offense. However if Tubs goes to TT I think it is better overall for the Big 12, because he will be limited in what he could do there. What would be scary is seeing him end up at A&M, which would be a real possibility if they got rid of Sherman... that program has a much higher ceiling and could be a powerhouse under Tubs, TT not so much.
