will add Kool in the Gang songs to my ipod during 2nd half.

14-7 Iowa.. Gt has about 38 yards of total offense if anyone cares.

Snakeyman Boise vs Fla halftime show.. Tom Petty and the heart breakers, singing "last dance with mary jane" followed by "American Girl"...

Playoff opponents complain that the regular season would become meaningless (utter BS), I cannot think of a more meaningless game than this snoozer.

As long as NONE of the halftime shows have tom petty, bruce springsteen, aerosmith, bon jovi, jay-z or ashley simpson.

This is why you don't run a gimmick offense against solid teams.

It's not like they haven't done ok with this offense against some good teams. The bigger problem is that this offense loses a lot of its advantage when a team has a month to prepare for it...

To defend against the option you need to play very sound assignment football with very good tackling. Isn't it half of all college football plays that have blown assignments? Given enough time a team should be ready both physically and mentally to play against the option (the spread being a different beast, btw). You have to be sound at tackling in the open field as well as a lot of times you can't let the guy get passed you for big, big plays. Iowa took away the middle and forced more options to the outside. GT has the most amount of passes >20yards, yet they played soundly against the pass as well.

Good defense won that game and Iowa has a very good DL.

That makes alot of sense as to why Iowa was able to shut down the GT offense, combined with the fact that the Iowa defense wasn't too shabby coming into this game.

Coldest Orange Bowl game ever with a kickoff temperature of 49 degrees.

mother nature is starting to hate the bowl system

GT coaches mentioned prior to the game that the were very nervous about Iowa's line. Said that if they couldn't control the tackles the offense wouldn't work.

Jonathan Dwyer almost pulled a Cody Hawkins.. But, he's Jonathan Dwyer and not Cody Hawkins and was able to break 3 tackles to avoid the safety. Still a horrible decision by a good player.
