they start at 30$. what the flying f*** is that? 30$?

i'm all for the AD making money but that's exploitation. 3 times the normal GA ticket? 300% markup on a priced product, is that rational?

whether we win or lose, i'm really tired of "sports" as all about the benjamins. it's ironic reversal of the idea of "competition" and free markets. when we cut to commercial breaks in an "and 1" situation....is BS to me. let the kid the shoot the free throw and not give Applebee's a chance to dazzle us with their new crap chicken entrees and a catchy jingle.

it's not about competition, it's about selling advertisements.

**** Applebees! I want an online petition. I'll sign that mother****er right now!

I totally agree with Mick. Applebee's is just fast food diguised as a sit down restaurant.

It is slightly better than Chili's but that's not saying much. **** Applebees, and kudos to Mick for having the courage to come out and say what we're all thinking. He's a chef, he should know.

I just checked Stubhub to see what GA tickets were going for when the Buffs play at KSU on Feb 13th. Cheapest option was $65. Buffs are still the best value in the Big 12 even if GA tix were $30 for every game. Honestly, we should hope we get there.

Imagine if we could draw an average of 9,000 a game for 8 conference games + another 10 non-conference games. Average that at $40 a seat and we'd be looking at just short of $6.5 million. Plus concessions and plus parking (if it ever grew to where CU could charge for parking at basketball games). This could be an absolute cash cow for the university.

Mick - I am sure this rant was designed to devolve into an Applebees sucks thread so - Applebees sucks.

I all seriousness, I don't have a problem with it. The CU AD has done everything it could to get CU fans into seats for that game. They offered 2 SEASON TICKETS for $60. At this point, I don't think they are exploiting anybody but the KU fan base who will pay just about anything to see their team up close and personal. Something that is not an option for most at Allen Fieldhouse.

Exactly, none of my KU friends are complaining about the ticket prices in Boulder to see one of the best college basketball teams in the country. CEC will be rocking on Wednesday - as the Gayhawk fans like to call it - Allen Fieldhouse West.

Agree with the previous posters who said basically that if we're gonna get overrun with those annoying KU fans, we might as well lighten their wallets in the process...for schools that don't routinely sell out their arenas for basketball, I think it's a fairly common practice to jack up the prices for the "premium" games on the schedule...

Ever since dropping over $250 to watch CU get beat by UT in Austin in football (stubhub - face value $90), I couldn't care less about $30 GA tix to watch KU basketball.

Why do some Colorado sports fans act like poor cousins? It cracked me up when CSU fans were "boycotting" $75 ticket in Folsom.

$30 for a B-ball game is cheap, cheap, cheap. How much are tickets to the Nuggets or Rockies? How much is a lift ticket? How much does a concert cost?

Pony up an quitcherbitchin'.

i do find it mildly hilarious that the "KU game" is such a big deal.

Yeah, it's not like they're ranked #1 in the country, won the national championship 2 years ago and have won the Big 12 for 5 straight years. Not a big game or anything. And I doubt they've built much of a fan base or following. :wink2:

my point is that i've been going to CU basketball games since the early 80's on a regular basis, good and bad. my dad had season tix and we went. he doesn't make it up from Parker as much as he used to when we lived in Denver but i buy the GA ticket, i'm there. i know all about KU basketball.....i just find interesting that we get all high-minded and pricey for one game a year. and happy swallow a 300% markup when the team is largely ignored by many "Buff fans" the other 25+ games a year.

I was just ****in' with ya. :smile2:

But that last post did make your point really well.

Ya cheap bastard.

i'm cheap, but that's how i do. i suppose in every other sphere of life i expect some return on my dollar. not paying a 300% to lose to Kansas again. truth is: i'd rather see the Buffs 3 times and watch the KU game on TV. which, despite our horrible TV deal, will be. i like our team. i have things to pay for and all that. i work at CU and really **** health insurance but really i'm all about ripping off the average Colorado taxpayer.

i find it interesting the moralizing of the other posters. pffff. i've been to more CU hoops game in the last 20 years than most of you combined. a current feature of the CU fan in the Hawkins era is "tell other people how to be a fan".

you wanna take a dick from Mike Bohn, that's on you. woohoo.

I really didn't mean to upset you. Honestly, I thought you were kidding around a bit in this thread (with the Applebee's thing and all).

Isn't this the norm for the Kansas game, though? I thought they always charged a premium for single game tix for that one?

Also, you can still get a $10 GA ticket for the KU game if you do it with the "U Pick 'Em" promotion on the CUBuffs web site. You just have to buy a GA ticket to 2 other games along with it (Mizzou, Okie, Clones or TTU). Really seems like between the $30 GA price for KU-only and this deal that they're just trying to stick it to Kansas fans.

I knew once we got off the original topic of Applebees that this thread would go to ****.

i am kidding some. we good. i'd sell my mother into white slavery in Morocco for CU to be good at hoops. i can see the stick it to KU fan theory, but is that where we want to be? such that being a critic of it makes you absurd on a CU board? let's show up to the other games, like i say, and this isn't an issue. no?

I agree with this. KU fans run the place over anyway. Might as well make all the western Kansas farmboys that can't get into AFH pay extra on the end of their 3-4 hour drive from the flatlands.

this whole issue goes away when everybody on this board starts buying season tickets...

Amen and REP to my bro in the trenches with me.

We can bitch about KU fans all we want (which I have on occasion :smile2:) but like the fusker game in that other sport, it's all on CU fans for not buying tickets and showing up in the first place.

I agree with some on here that I think it's CU's way of trying to stick it to the KU fans (the 3 game u-pick-'em has a few of the KU people I know pissed off - I just laugh since they did the same thing a few years ago to try to keep NU fans out of their football stadium). But I look at it kind of like Rockies Opening Day - I've paid $32 to watch a game that the very next day, I can sit in the same seat for $5. Supply & demand. If CU fans don't like it, a KU fan will snap it up right under their nose.
