WOOHOO! Our 5th offense in 5 years!

I'm fine with whatever is going to move the chains at this point. I'm a fan of power running or option football, but if we chuck it alot next year and the offense improves, I'm all for it.

need the oline to get it together if we're going to have any hope

Did it say that we're going to change what offense we run?

I took it to mean that we would probably use more of it this year since we had success with it last year and it fits our personnel. And that it was already in the playbook. Didn't some of those zone read option plays that Tyler ran so well come out of the 'pistol' formation?

Pistol is code for we have no big backs to get the tough yards so we need to spreed you out and find a seam.

Get use to passing on 3rd and short.

I don't think we're really changing the offense, it sounds like we'll just use more of that formation. We already were using it towards the end of last year anyway. This isn't a total makeover like going to the spread or something.

Sounds to me like an excuse for DH to start his kid again - new offense, time spent in offseason study blah blah blah

Every time I force this notion out of my head, I read something like this. I half way believe you may be correct...I think I maight spontaneously combust if it happens....

It's thinking about sh!t like that that ruins my day. It's funny because it's just reasonable enough that you can imagine it happening. But too damn painful to think about for me to be able to laugh yet.

Rep anyway.

Welcome to Allbufffs.

Didn't the article mention Tyler and that formation specifically? I'm not sure Pistol is that great for CHawk. The shotgun works well because he needs extra time and space because of his speed and size limitations. Pistol doesn't help the QB as much in those areas, and I'm not sure how it would help CHawk much. If they wanted to keep CHawk in, seems like they'd stick with the straight up shotgun offense.

not really a new offense so much as a new formation. Not a drastic change in terminology or anything like that. Fine with me.

I mean, I've only been calling for the pistol to be our base for like... 3 years?

Once they outlawed the A-10. :smile2:

Righteous first post - I'm sure that thought has entered alot of CU fan's minds. Baby will be on the field - you can bank on that.

And if that happens, this place will experience a nuclear meltdown the likes of which they would never teach us about in Navy Nuke Power School. I would venture a guess at a Chernobyl to the 5th power.

Dammit, I just geeked out...

I (like everyone else) would blow a gasket if CHawk were starting at qb. One situation I wouldn't mind though would be having him line up at WR for some sort of fake reverse or other gadget play. That actually worked pretty well the one or two times we tried it last year.
