CU Buff Bannan signs with Broncos

He's been a hard worker, good to see him get his rewards for it. I don't think he will be a big difference maker but he is a quality ballplayer and it is good to have him.

He did a very good job when Kelly Gregg went down for the season in 2008 and started 15 games.

He's not a pass-rusher but he can plug some holes in the rush defense.

Agree, he may not be a big statistical guy but he makes it easier for his teammates to do their jobs. He also seems like a great attitude guy, and if a guy has the right attitude and can play he will help a team.

I am happy for him as a Buff, but I do not see him as a real difference maker.

Exactly. We need Ayers to step up as a pass-rush threat opposite Dumervil if we want to get to the QB. (that is, unless the Broncos watch Doom walk as a RFA with a 1st round pick).

They put the maximum tender on Doom (first and third round pick). Seems like that was done in order to make sure he doesn't get away...

Nice. I tried to catch up on all the moves and stuff today but didn't see that. Did see that B-Marsh is shopping in Seattle, so maybe the Broncos get their 1st rounder back from them.

At this point, I'd take the 1st rounder for BMarsh. He's a spectacular talent, and just as much a spectacular head ache. Could they replace him with a wr in the draft? No, but it seems to me that they could give Eddie Royal a chance to be the #1 receiver and bring in a big possession wr to compliment him.

Good luck to BMarsh wherever he lands.

Yeah some "mock drafts" show us taking Dez Bryant. Why would we repeat the off-field/character issue?

I think Royal, Stokely, Gaffney, and last year's draft pick McKinley can do just fine for us, but McD didn't use Royal enough for my liking so maybe they go after a big tall WR in the 2nd round.

If that is the WR group heading into next season, uh... yeah.

Really? Without Marshall, it's one of the worst WR groups in the AFC. Definitely bottom third in the NFL, imo.

Spring optimism I guess.

In hindsight Royal was pretty much a non-factor for many games (not his fault), so replacing Marshall would be key. I like Gafney and think McKinley has potential but you can wish in one hand and **** in the other see which one gets full quicker, right?

Just my opinion but Id rather have Golden Tate than Bryant. I really like his game. Good hands, solid routes, good speed, and he works hard. Think he will be better than most think if he stays healthy.

Me too, I'm glad all of the reports came out about Dez Bryant because there's no way Parcells will take a guy like that. Unfortunately he probably won't take Tate either, I think he's going to be a very good WR in the NFL. Maybe not HOF, but damn good.

I'd almost never take a WR in the 1st round of the draft. Only exception I'd make is if I needed one, was drafting at the end of the round, and the WR I had #1 on my board fell to me (like when the Steelers drafted Santonio Holmes a few years ago). Otherwise, it's better to just wait. By far, it's the easiest position to find in later rounds.

Tate reminds me of a Hines Ward type, that is faster and a better athlete. He is a versatile player, I think the Broncos would get alot more for their investment taking Tate than Bryant. This is assuming they even take a wr with that pick, who the hell knows what they are planning?

I agree on the wr in the first round thing but Tate is a little different imho. He is a good all around football player, think he is gonna be more than just a wr.

Good news about Bannan and J. Williams.....Green too

Certainly adds a lot more depth and "top end" talent for the 3-4 defense. Makes me wonder if Bannan will play DE with Williams/Fields being bigger NT types, and Chris Baker there too.

I think we just need a better all-around SOLB, as I'm not sold on Haggan especially in pass coverage, and we'll have all the "starters" in place on defense.

The run defense got a lot better with those 3 signings.

A guy like McClain at ILB to pair up with D.J. would be tough to pass up as well, but I could live with the Andra Davis/Wesley Woodyard combo for another season.

I'm pretty sure Bannan will move out and start at DE now. With Williams, Fields and Baker at NT they should be pretty well set there. Green, Bannan, Holliday, McBean and Peterson give them a decent bit of depth at DE. I'm pretty sure these signings mean the end of Thomas. All of a sudden, drafting a DL looks more like an option than a necessity.

I'd still love to see another good ILB early in the draft. Maybe McClain, but there's some question about him being a little nonmotile for the position. What I'd really like to see is Davis and somebody at ILB, DJ and Doom on the outside....

D.J. is perfect at his inside spot, when Doom rushes in, he effectively becomes an OLB on some downs, but still can blitz himself at other times, I think that is his perfect spot. Putting DJ on the outside in our scheme would limit his impact on the game, IMO. With these three new big boyz in front, I think you will really see D.J. have the Ray Lewis/Patrick Willis type impact this year from the ILB spot. Davis works great as a run stuffer and taking on blocks so DJ can make plays, but when Davis and Hagan are on the same side of the ball we are exposed in the passing game and other teams took advantage of us there.

Getting a big, strong, and fast ILB to pair up with DJ that plays every down, or a SLB that is an everydown guy would be huge for us (my man crush on Brian Cushing in last year's draft just got worse as the season played out and he tore it up).

Not sure if those "needs" overcome the others at QB, WR, and interior O-line though.
