Interesting interview with Gary Pinkel

I found interesting the remark about CU's pr people doing a study of every program in the country's age distributions.

Pinky is equipped to coach big boy FB...I don't like him, but the guy can coach.

Interesting how that "youngest depth chart in the nation" at Missouri kicked our *****e$ up and down our own field last year.
Reading stuff like this from coaches who know how to to coach makes me hate Hawkins more and more for what he has done to our program. I was clinging to some small hope that Hawk could pull a Pinkel this year (like Pinkel did in his 5th year) but after reading this article, it's clear Hawkins does not have the mentality it takes to make the turnaround when compared to Pinkel.
Oh well, here's to 4-8, Hawk being gone, and us in the Pac12!

It is my opinion that this is a culture at CU just as much as it is a personality trait of Dan Hawkins.

Do you think Dan Hawkins went to Plati and asked him to investigate every team in the country to determine if their age? Hell no, that was a scheme hatched from the brilliant mind of Plati himself, I am sure. It is a mindset of the CU athletic department that "we do everything right, everyone else does it wrong" in every single application across the board.

There is a culture at CU that makes the athletic department's current situation appear, to me at least, to be much more in line with a "status quo" -- and makes what Bill McCartney did at CU 20 years ago that much more of a miracle. I seriously doubt that is a mountain CU will ever climb again.

Interesting though that Plati's rise to the position he has now started while Coach Mac was working his magic.

Also think it's interesting that we never saw the "results" of the study after Mizzou kicked our butts. After that happened, looks like the SID figured out the youth excuse wouldn't fly with fans anymore (as Pinkel alluded to in his interview.) Obviously Hawk never got the message.
