donmac, the member at Rivals who has the close relationship with Tony Jones and was instrumental in landing us Terrel Smith, is now bringing Harris to CU.

Harris was a Top 30 prospect out of NJ in 2007. He signed with Purdue, played very little, left the program, and sat out in 2009. He needs a few credits this semester to get his eligibility back on track, but would be ready to transfer to CU this summer (take summer school and participate in summer 7ons).

donmac reported that he will be bringing Harris to the CU spring game along with a couple NJ linebackers who may be grayshirt or prep school candidates we would bring in for 2011.

I don't know who donmac is or why he's driving NJ kids to CU, but I'm liking his efforts so far.

is this legal?

Absolutely. He's just making introductions. No skin in the game other than wanting to see Tony Jones be on as good of a team as possible (and helping out some other kids from the NJ projects).

Stay tuned. Harris was in town this weekend for the spring game. News could be coming very soon.

I hate to be that guy at the back of the room saying "wait a minute," but... we are graduating 24 scholarship players after the 2011 season already. I would imagine there is a decent chance that Cefalo and Espinoza could join that group as well. If we bring in Harris, we are potentially talking about as many as 27 players graduating. Wow.

I've been pretty vocal about my concerns on that issue. We need to balance our classes. But the bigger concern is that we need to win in 2010. Harris could immediately be our punt returner and see a lot of PT at tailback. He's a great fit for the shotgun single back we're running and the guy can absolutely fly. We need playmakers.

And we'll absolutely need to take a few JUCOs and transfers in 2011 and 2012 while recruiting lights out for the freshman classes in order to balance things. But that becomes a lot more likely if this junior class can deliver a lot of wins in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. We need to do this, BB. Just like we needed to bring in Richter to compete at LG despite having 9 junior class OLs. (As an aside, I'm hoping that a few of those junior OLs decide to hang it up after getting no PT this season.)

Fair enough. I understand winning now is the most important thing, so I am okay with this, despite reservations.

I am really concerned about what happens at WR and OL after the 2011 season though.

I agree at WR. Jefferson, Darden and Ussery should be a good trio but it's all potential right now. Duncan and Canty may be good (we just don't know yet). Ebner seems like a guy who can provide some depth (decent size, good speed, good hands). But we completely missed at WR in the 2008 class. We're going to need to sign 2 in 2011, imo. A JUCO and a freshman.

At OL, I'm feeling better after this spring. Bakhtiari and Harris are better than I expected. And we've got Shaun Simon transferring in next year. Harris at LT, Givens at RT and Simon at C is the bones of what could be a very good 2012 OL. Maybe Bakhtiari plays one of the guard spots. Maybe Handler moves over to guard. But now that I think about it, it sure makes a lot of sense that for the 2010 class we recruited guards instead of tackles. Crabb and Munyer should certainly be in the mix by 2012 as RS-Sophs.

Still a bit unsure about the interior OL outside of Simon once he makes it on to campus. And Givens is still a major question mark in my mind, I could easily see Harris/Dannewitz as our starting tackles in 2012.

The other position where it might make sense to take a freshman and a JUCO is QB. The JUCO QB could be dependent on how this season plays out though. We also need the RB recruits from this season to make it into school. I know not all will stay at that position, but we need them all. Otherwise, RB becomes an issue after 2011 when we're talking about graduating Speedy and Lockridge.

New Rivals article on Harris's visit this weekend. He needs to finish up a couple classes to get eligible. But I had some bad info on his eligibility status. He would need to sit out a year and then would have 2 years to play at CU. He would be in the class behind Speedy and B-Lock. That may actually be a very good thing, considering BB's valid concern about the size of our junior class.

I'm expecting that we'll offer once Harris gets himself eligible.
