Bleacher report 10 worst QBs

Arnaud closed the season on a four-game multiple interception tear, but still managed to beat Colorado off of a 12/25, 105-yard performance with a long completion of 20 yards.

Ahh memories

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/359501-the-10-worst-quarterbacks-in-the-bcs-conferences#page/3 Ten worst QBs in college football. Guess who #9 is? You're right. Should be #1.

I don't know about #1, but he probably belongs on the list. And I hate to say that, because he seems like a great kid. But his size makes it too hard to throw over the o-line, his arm isn't strong enough to stretch the field and he is too nonmotile to really be a playmaker.... :sad1:

Why sites decide to present their stories in slide show format is beyond me.

#6 Austen Arnaud of Iowa State

Unbelievable...

Not to mention when the O-line that he can't see over can't block and we didn't have a single receiver that could get open or stretch the field. Cody is a good quarterback with some semblance of a running game, not down by four TDs and not asked to throw 50 times a game.

I loved how they ripped the Fusker's Zack Lee. (#4)

"The Broad Side of a Barn could play wide receiver for Nebraska and not get more than three catches per game with Lee at the helm."

Going to have to go ahead and disagree here. What are his strengths as a quarterback? Certainly not arm strength, accuracy, decision making, or mobility. I am not trying to rip the kid, but he is not a "good" quarterback under any circumstances.

It is easy to blame his struggles on the offensive line, which no doubt has had problems, or the pedestrian running game, but I think it is a bit of a two-way street when it comes to that one. Hard to run the ball effectively when opponents stack the box every down. I would also imagine having a quarterback that can't really make a defense pay for blitzing him puts some stress on the OL.

There have been 1001 excuses made for Cody. It is always someone elses fault. That's fine. But to say he is a "good" QB is simply not true. At best, he would fall under the category of "marginally adequate" on an absolutely stacked team.

Bingo. People have seriously overestimated that 2007 season when Cody had his "good" season. If you actually look at the stats, they are pretty underwhelming: 56.8 completion percentage, 22 TDs against 17 INTs, and a shade over 3,000 in 13 games. It was "good" enough for 9th in the Big 12 in passing efficiency (and about the same as the 10th and 11th ranked passers).

It is time to stop spinning the performance of Cody as a starting QB. The kid has put a lot of hard work into the program, but sometimes that just is not good enough.

Stats are misleading, I hate when people follow stats, there can be so many variables. Cody is not a great or even good QB, but he had a good 2007 season. Th emost important thing is wins over stats and Cody did that in '07. I will let you know I am still for Hansen though, but stats don't always mean everything. Wins baby

Stats are not the end-all, be-all, but they do tell part of the story and cannot be summarily dismissed. Also, 6-7 does not exactly scream "good QB" either. He was an adequate QB that season, nothing more.

Cody in 07 also had 2 NFL players on his defense in Dizon and Wheatley.

For what it's worth, Cody was a highly acclaimed recruit. He is the only CU quarterback to have been invited to the Elite 11 camp. He competed against Tebow, Stafford, Snead, et al, that year. Yes, this may have been due to HS systems or his dad pulling strings, but recruiting in general is very political.

That said, Cody is not the right QB for this team right now. But I believe that Cody would have done just fine on our teams from the late 90's to early 00's... a la Moschetti, Klatt, Hessler.

How many NFL players did Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy have on their defenses? And for the record, I am not a Cody apologist OR COMPARING HIM TO THOSE GUYS. Well maybe McCoy, he is one of the most overatted QB's I have ever seen.

Yep, I agree with you

Cody isn't the problem. The problem is Coach thinking he and Tyler are about even and competing for the starting job. If he sees Cody's strength as a better grasp of the offensive scheme, it's incumbent upon him to make damn sure Tyler gets enough reps to catch up and pass him.

...which has nothing to do with play ON THE FIELD. He has never been more than adequate, so who gives a **** if he was part of the Elite 11 or not. 04 is right, people never fail to jump right in and make excuses when it comes to Cody.

and he wasn't a highly recruited kid. boise st, cu, and oregon offered him. the only reason the ducks offered was because one of their coaches was close with dan and extended a favor.

So you are saying he had 2 offers from his dad - one at Boise and one at CU - and one offer from a friend of his Dad.

Note: Since this is my 999th post - I am going to wait for something really epic or until I cannot stand it anymore before I post my 1000th post.

Actually I have posted more than that but the user accounts got wiped out in 2005.

I don't know how successful Cody would have been on a talent-loaded team. But I do know he's not the type of guy who was going to excel behind a patchwork OL like we've had the past few seasons.

I love him as a backup and emergency starter. But that's what he is.

I'm hoping that this is my last post on this subject.

Lets go with the QB that makes the players around him better rather then the QB that needs players to make him better.

Hansen has shown that kind of ability.. at home. Hope to see more games out of him like A&M and Kansas.
