Early look at the season

What are your early early predictions? I am basing mine off that Hansen is the predominant #1 from day 1 (fingers crossed)

CSU: Toss up, who knows with this one anymore. Maybe after last years CSU debacle in Boulder and the fans rushing our field will light a fire under these guys for some payback.

@ Cal: L Road game against a decent opponent should be a certain L

Hawaii: W We should come away with this one, but I guess no game is a gimmie under Hawk

Georgia: Toss up, everyone will think I'm crazy for this but there are some things to keep in mind on this one. a) It's a home game and Hawks teams play better at home. b) Hawks teams seem to have a good game a year against a good team. c) It's the 20 year reunion of the national championship team. A big weekend celebrating and honoring with many of the former coaches and players here, the current players will see this. d) Last time we played Georgia, we almost shut them out let alone win between the hedges. e) IMO Georgia is a little overatted every year. d) Georgia doesn't come this far west very often.

@ Mizzou: L Until we can even come close to these guys again, we stand no chance.

Baylor: W, although the bears will be tough with Griffen back

Texas Tech: W We have Tech's number, plus they are breaking in a new coach.

@ Oklahoma: L 2007 wont happen again, especially in Norman.

@ Kansas: Toss up. Hard to tell what KU will be like, but my guess is very average at best, new coach and new QB. The bad thing for CU though, on the road.

Iowa St: W, the home team usually wins this game

Kansas St: Toss up. Our big advantage is it's here

@ Nebraska: Toss up. It's a rivalry and records are thrown out the window. We should have won the last two years.

So there you go, I have 4 wins, and 5 toss ups. I see us winning between 4 and 9 games with 5-6 wins being the most realistic, I don't see us winning ALL the toss ups. Will probably win one we shouldn't, and will lose 1 we should win. Oh wait, are there any games anymore that we should win? haha.

CSU- I would like to say W, but I agree it's no better than a toss up with Dh running the show, W.

Cal- road game, top 25 opponent, L

Hawaii- why do I think this will be a replay of the EWU close call? W

UGA- SEC team. L

Mizzou- Hawk very nearly being named as the Missouri state bird, L

Baylor- should be a W at Folsom

TT- HCTT has more tools and more coaching savvy, L

OU- Sorry, I see the dirt burglars here, L.

KU- I like this game as a possible road W.

KjSU- Snydley will take HCRP's palyers and coach circles around DH...again. L

ISU- ISU has been a burr under CU's saddle, but the Buffs should take this one. W.

NU- ???? Their offense contnues to be nearly as bad as CU's (yea, Watson!), no Suh, Buffs could pull one out, but a tossup at best, I'll say W because I am a total homer. W.

6-6 is proabably a best case scenario....

4-8. We're close. Things are about to pop. 10 plays would make CU bowl eligible.

Losses: CSU, Cal, UGA, Mizzou, KState, OU, ISU, NU
Wins. Hawaii, KU, TT, Baylor

There is nothing going on that leads me to conclude this year will be much more successful than last.
Fairchild knows how to get his team ready on opening day. Hawkins has not accomplished this.
The KU game looks good because of the change in coach and QB. Similar story with TT. The more I look at Baylor, the more possible an other 3-9 looks.

Fairchild is 1-1 vs. Hawk, and there's nothing that says he knows how to get his team ready....blah-blah-blah. They lost what - 8 in a row? As far as I'm concerned, both coaches have absolutely sucked.

yep, I don't understand the Fairchild love either, we smoked them one year and he smoked us the next. CSU ended up having just as bad of a season last year as us if not worse.

The game is still a toss up though

the love is for the 58th rated recruiting class he "pulled" in.

I think it's going to come down to taking care of the little things, bringing our luchpails, getting our horns out and stopping the gashers. If we can do all that, there's no reason to believe we won't be 5 plays away from a bowl season instead of 10.

I don't know what happened to the Rammies to make them lose 8 in a row, but for 1 game Fairchild clearly outcoached Hawk. The Buffs were lucky the score was as close as it was.

That said I do favor the Buffs to beat CSU this year.

my picks:
CSU- win
Cal-sure loss
Hawaii- win
UGA- buffs play em tough but lose.
Mizzou- loss
Baylor- win
TT- loss
OU- loss
KU- loss
KjSU- loss
ISU-win
NU- loss

4 wins 8 losses, see ya Hawk!

5 toss-ups?!?! Way to go out on a limb. :smile2:

Which is exactly why I am calling 2 wins...

... I want to be pleasantly surprized if we do better than that.

My mistake. I maxed out my expectations with 3 wins. I should have followed your lead and lowered the bar.

CSU: Toss up. We have better talent, they have better coaching.

@ Cal: Loss. This coached team on the road against a more talented team? Fat chance.

Hawaii: Win. We "should" be able to beat Hawaii

Georgia: Loss, and many CU fans will swear that we "should have won."

@ Mizzou: Loss

Baylor: Win, although a loss would not shock me one bit.

Texas Tech: Toss up, only because we've seem to have TT's number, which will actually have nothing to do with this game.

@ Oklahoma: Loss, and CU fans will swear that we should have won.

@ Kansas: Win. Close win against a team with a brand new coaching staff.

Iowa St: Win. We have more talent, they have better coaching. Home team takes it.

Kansas St: Loss. Snyder coaches circles around Hawkins

@ Nebraska: Loss, and many of us will swear that CU should have won.

4-6 with two tossups. If you forced me to pick them all, I'd go with a CSU win and a TT loss, making our record 5-7.

Riiiiiiiiiight. 4 consecutive losing seasons under Hawkins, and .500 is the worst case scenario?!?!?

I can't speak for Abs, but I suspect he was saying that 6 and 6 would be enough to save Coach Hawkins job, yet would still fall below traditional expectations for the program.

Damnit Wally. Why you gotta ruin that? Mania was primed to rip into the CU fanbase, somehow and some way... again. You let him off the hook.

Oh c'mon Boulder. BM just hates hypocracy and keeps the rest of us honest; that he hates it most in CU fans is irrelevant.

I see at most 7 wins against CSU, Hawaii, Kansas, TT, KSU, ISU, and maybe NU.

I can also see us losing all 7 of those, especially if Cody is playing QB.

What is everybody gonna do if we win 8 games or so? **** bricks because Hawk is back, or be happy? And if you say there is no way we win 8 games, you don't know **** about sports.

I'll be pretty happy if we win 8. Hawk would obviously be back, I'd be extremely worried that 8 wins was a flash in the pan and we should prepare for a return to 4 wins, but I would also have a returned sense of optimism.

A lot would depend on how we got to those 8 wins, but I think most folks would be satisfied with that. Ain't gonna happen, though. Simple reason is that Hawk can't win on the road. He has to win at least one road game to win 8 games this year. I don't have to know jack sh!t about sports to know that.

If CU wins 8 this season, I'm going to worry about a spider monkey infestation sweeping across the nation.
