Sandersfeld was an invited walk on in 2007 after earning 2-time All-State honors at the 1A level in Colorado. He redshirted his first year. In 2008, Sandersfeld played in all 12 games, distinguishing himself on special teams. He finished the season 3rd in special teams points and was Co-Winner of the Bill McCartney Award for special teams excellence. Awarded a scholarship prior to the start of the 2009 season, Sandersfeld went on to lead the team in special teams points (45, with the next closest at 28) while also getting 29 snaps at SS. Sandersfeld is expected to once again be a special teams ace in 2010 while also contributing more on defense. He is the currently 2nd on the depth chart at SS behind Anthony Perkins and is in a position battle with 2nd string FS Parker Orms for the nickel DB spot.

He had that monster special teams hit last year, with an associated fumble, I think.
