I am a die hard buff thats hurting. I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate seeing my buffs dogged which is what is going on right now. I don't care how ****ty they are I hate it, it pisses me off. I have even been dogging them lately, and I feel the most pessimistic about them as I ever have.

I can't stand it in here and how some of the posters get. I wont be back in the football forum until fall drills start. I will be in the pub and ****, and will hopefully be having a stress free summer fishing, hiking, traveling and camping. But I am done talking buff football for now. I'm a fricken unleashed animal when it comes to defending my buffs and they are too ****ty to defend right now.

Talking Buffs football is definitely not fun these days. I don't blame you for wanting a break. Glad to hear you'll stick around the rest of the joint, though...

Hate to say...if you cannot stand it now, it will get a hell of a lot worse before there is any chance it gets better. We hope to see you in a few years....another ass whipping this fall, the departure of danny, and the rebuilding project....

That is kind of the way I feel with one exception. You kind of go along with the "they are ****ty" crowd. Not me, man. I think they have more talent than people realize and have a damned good chance of shocking people. I'm nervous though. But I believe, honestly believe, that positive things happen to positive people and negative things happen to negative people. Problem is, this board is now dominated by negative people. I REFUSE to fall into that ****.

It hurts me to call them ****ty, good for you though, you are a better fan than me, seriously.:drink2:

I suggest tailgating...you always have something to look forward to regardless of the record.

Nah. We are the same. I'm just naturally that way. I've been wrong (Buffs) and right (Rockies) in my optimism.

I'm with you 'Leash. I haven't completely abandoned the football forum, but I'm far less frequent there since the Toledo game. The recruiting forum is still good, because the guys who've managed it in the last year or two have done such a good job. But I'm far less excited about even recruiting, in general, than I have been in years.

It's not the remarks that make me less likely to open a football related thread, though. It's just the whole situation.

See you in Barzil, brother.

I am with you. hopefully, our Buffs surprise the haters. All those that are saying "i will not renew my tickets" or "I will not donate" are backwards. If you want Coach Hawkins gone then put your money where your mouth is.

We have a coach and a team. I choose to support the program though thick and thin.

Leash (even though I know you are off the thread now...)

You've got some willpower to cut yourself off cold turkey. I want to read all the details. I'll be combing through practice reports to see who is stepping up and who isn't (names ommitted tell you as much as names mentioned sometimes.) Trying to find some little gems to give me hope that last year was when the buffs hit bottom and they are surely (slowly but surely, or quickly but surely) climbing upwards to redeem the golden reputation again. Will review the April 2 scrimmage stats and see if the same guys are standing out as did on the first scrimmage. Crossing my fingers for few injuries, and those that occur to be quickly healed. And the spring game? Who can stay away from the information to be mined there?

If you could really stop reading about Buff's football for six months (now until we play the lammies), you'll have no idea whether the team is pulling it together or falling apart. For myself, I want to hear all about it, and be prepared for whatever will surprise us in the fall. Otherwise, it's like you sent your problem child off to boarding school, cut off all communications and don't find out if there was any behavioral improvement until graduation -- when you scan the lists to see if he or she managed to pass a few classes.

I'd rather have my good news, and bad news, in small doses and get used to it. Day by day.

To me it's like watching a slow motion train wreck. Every week, every time Hawk is quoted is like another frame in the slo-mo film. Every "little things", or "dead even", or "Horns out", or "lunchpail" is another in a series of reasons for me to look forward to the day he's gone. I have to continue to stay on top of these things, lest I become somebody who looks at our situation and say "gee, it looks like we have enough talent here to make some noise in the Big 12". I'm beyond that now. I know better. I know that while we do have talent, it will never produce so long as Hawkins is running the show. I stay around here because I need to be reminded of that.

I believe we're going to be really good in 2010. Go to a good bowl and finish in the Top 25.

I've certainly been down on our potential to have good season next year. However, that shouldn't be taken as a knock on the players or the program in general. I want the Buffs to be contenders again. I just have zero faith in the current coaching staff to turn it around.

There are positives. We do have the raw talent in the program to win. We may be headed to the PAC10 which I think is a good thing. We may be getting $50 million capital infusion from boosters. The basketball program is headed in the right direction. Colorado high school football is producing more D1 talent tahn ever before. And most importantly, although somewhat cranky the fan base remains engaged.

We've suffered 4 consecutive years of losing seasons for the first time in a century of football. Hopefully (Unleash, Roam, and DBT) you can forgive some us for being a little PO'd.

:iagree:

I think we need a forum for those fans who have not yet given up hope. I'm in.

Look. Every year I think the same thing: I see the beauty of what could be, the potential, the areas that need only the tiniest tweaking to be successful. Some years I'm right, some years I'm wrong, but every spring rolls around and I believe it can only be better than the previous year.

When the buffs are back on top, I want to say I was behind them the whole tortuous ride. 100%.

I disagree with your argument here.

1. By all counts the Athletic Dept. had sufficient funds to buy out Coach Hawkins last year. Your suggestion that providing more money would facilitate that process is therefore flawed. It wasn't a money issue, but rather a political one.

2.. If fans donate through thick and thin and--to use your phrase--put their money where their mouths are, it leaves little incentive for the Athletic Department to generate a winning program.

3. The so-called haters are mischaracterized, in my opinion. They're fans who are frustrated with the win/loss record in recent years. If they weren't passionate about the program, they wouldn't care.

I tend to fall on the sunshine-pumper side of the house. However, I've been burned in recent years as a reward for my positive outlook. I'll watch every game I can, and always root for the student athletes. But to protect myself, I feel the apathy creeping in. I want to fight it, but I don't want to get let down again, either. So what's worse in your opinion: Hating or Apathy? I'd argue you should be more worried about the apathy, and respect those that you call haters. They care.

The Buffs are family. When your brother messes up, are you going to sugarcoat it, or are you going to give up a big dose of reality? When your brother achieves great things, are you going to celebrate and put aside the rough spots?

The ability to be both loyal and honest are endearing qualities.

Bless you guys that still maintain any sort of positive outlook. That is pretty remarkable given everything.

I tend to agree with Sacky's slow-motion trainwreck analogy. I am at the point where if no bad news is reported in a given week, I take it as one helluva positive.

The DBT Dictionary: realistic, n. 1. negative

Nothings going to change as long as this coaching staff is around - who can tell how much talent we have with these guys running the show? "Nice" and "rebuilding" only cut it for so long...
