If the actual facility looks anything like that, it will really provide a 'face-lift' to that side of the event center

Is this facility comparable to the other basketball facilities in the conference? Just curious with recruiting in mind.

I didn't realize it was actually going to be attached to Coors. All of the renderings I had seen were head on facing east and I guess I missed that part. I like this even more now.

I would think so. I haven't seen any other Big 12 facilities to know for sure, but when the facility was in the planning stages, the hoops coaches and AD reps did a tour of other Big 12 facilities to get an idea of what they wanted in Boulder.

Wow. That's really cool. Any idea how they'll work out access to the bottom level of the CEC with that big thing in the way of the roll doors?

It looks like they're making the stairs to the front entrance more of a gradual incline so that you don't need to be part Sherpa to make it to the door.

Baylor's. I think the practice facility is the one in front, but am not sure.

we are going to have to get some construction pics of this throughout the next year and post them in this thread. The good thing about CU's groundbreaking is they start construction immediately, not like other place where they snap pics and fence off a lot for 3 years.

One thing I like about it is that it softens the look of the CEC itself. Not so much of a bomb shelter look to it, at least from certain angles.

To me, it currently looks like one of those WW2 pill boxes the Germans built.

Good idea.

For most of the construction projects going on now, facilities puts up a webcam that updates once an hour or something like that. There's no cam up on the practice facility yet but I'm going to be checking in and I'll post a link when it comes up.

This is going to be a huge lift for the three programs in this regard.

Even better, that means the CU AD can start seriously planning for what needs or should be done with Folsom Field.

Visually, the proposed look is more appealing than UT's facility which looks like a yuppie McMansion (though considering the city that one's in, makes some sense). I've been inside Cooley Pavilion when they had men's and women's practice running at the same time. That was a very impressive look so I'm anxious for this bad boy to get finished. Hopefully things stay on schedule and two seasons from now we have three postseason caliber programs calling this place home.

I donated a small amount of money for this and I sure hope it is actually completed and helps our teams.

Please post pictures if possible of the progress as I no longer live in Colorado to go see it.

They've got a trailer on the site now is all. It won't be until they're done with all the HS graduation stuff they do at Coors before things get going. I'll try to get a photo posted every month or so.

Drove by the other day, and dirt has started moving, looks like things are moving along. The only thing is the new Center for Community dwarfs the CEC. And people complain by the couple million they spent on the practice facility, I think this was some of the best money spent so far.

Construction Update w/ pics

Stopped by the site today. No worries, it's going strong now that the high school stuff is done. Pretty excited.
