Spring Game- Clever way to hide #1's vs #2's?

This scrimmage seems to be a cleverly disguised #1’s vs #2’s with a few exceptions. I have set up and looked at the line-up, and on the offensive side of this Cody gets the #2’s except for LT & TE. I am assuming that was done to keep Cody from getting killed from the blind side. Cody has 1 scholarship WR to throw to. I did a sort of breakdown of starters and back-ups for each team. I am going to guess that the success of the gold team will determine whether or not people think the offense will have a chance next season:

I thought that splitting Iltis and Stevens as captains screamed pretty loudly that there's a tight position battle at Center and they weren't ready to name a guy.

And I think each QB has his "favorite" with Hansen-Stevens and Hawkins-Iltis being more "used' to each other.

But aren't we fairly certain that the team captains picked the players, not the coaches? So if there is any set up, it is the players' desire to win, not to separate the 1s and 2s.

moten has been practicing at cb for a couple months now. not sure whats up with speedy.

i was skeptical about going but i think i'll have to show up. i wanna see tyler ball all over the field.

It loooks like the blacks went with a more defensive pick approach after Solder and the gold team a more offensive approach, but the gold team has some very athletic d players

Especially with the list of guys being held out, there was more depth on defense. I think there was more value in picking offense early.
