ESPN Report: Wake Forest to hire Bzdelik

Thanks for the 3 years. Bye.

Moving on.

Do you guys want to see a new hire made quickly (like this week or next) or are you ok with this dragging on a few weeks or longer?

Remember, the first day of the signing period is tomorrow and Friday is the end of the "Dead Period" and coaches can start talking to prospects again.

I think we need to strike quickly and interview a handful of people this week and have it whittled down to 2 many 3 guys by Friday so we have something to tell recruits still interested once the dead period ends. Let's just hope that some of these guys don't get nervous about our coaching situation and sign elsewhere tomorrow! When I was being recruited for lacrosse, there was no way I was going to sign before I knew who would be coaching me. Some of these guys aren't going to have the patience to have a wait-and-see attitude while CU drags their feet for several weeks. So I guess what I'm saying is I'd like CU to go through the proper process to find a quality coach, but I'd also like them to do it quickly! That's asking a lot of an AD that has consistently dropped the ball and left the Buffalo faithful withering in constant agony!

I'd like to see McClain hired right after Bzz's presser tomorrow. Since I know that won't happen, a new coach needs to be named next week at the latest imo.

It certainly sounds like the sooner the better given the end of the "Dead Period" is right around the corner.

To quote the great Michael Irvin...."Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you...."

We need a good hire quickly

I am for McClain, but I will be honest that Lon Kruger has me thinking that maybe they hire him and maybe he would keep McClain on in same role

Bye Bye. That is all. Now go get Kruger or at least interview some of the names that are being thrown around. I would like to see it done within a week.

Great point, who's to say we will lose McClain if he's not our HC choice? Maybe we give him a raise to honor his solid efforts as assistant under Bzz.

Bohn said he's gotten more interest in one week than in all the time before the Bzdelic hiring. I wonder who has expressed interest. One name mentioned in the paper was Jamaal Mosely. What would you think of that? He's never been a HC so that could be a stretch. But he's been the head of player development for the Nuggets for three years. I don't know if that's good or bad based on how the Nuggets are playing.

Don't know if this is true, but the Denver Post reports that Buzz didn't mention CU once in the first 5 minutes of his press conference. No thanks, nothing. Glad he found his 'dream job'

In the press conference both Bz and the Wake AD looked like complete dumbasses

I hope Bz gets used to being booed at every game he loses, he definatly showed he couldnt handle true reporters who dont pad their questions

Mosley would be no more than a courtesy interview. We can do much better than that without going outside the program.

I'd laugh if I didn't fear that this could actually happen.

Travis Heath, who's gotten some pretty good scoops before but also whiffed pretty badly, is reporting that Mike Dunlap is the "heavy favorite" for our now vacant coaching position.

Thanks Buzz for the 3 years and for assembling the team that is going to Dance next season. Have fun coaching at a place that just fired a coach who averaged over 20 wins a year.

i think it would be nifty to have Mosely on staff at CU, but HC.....if the other interest being shown is legit, it would be absurd to go after JM (with all respect to the guy, was a very good player for CU).

if you have a shot at Kruger or the St. Mary's guy, you are looking at people who have won more NCAA tournament games than CU has in the last 30 years. problem with the mid-major guys, is it's hard to tell whether you are getting a Greg McDermott (who people around the league swear is a really good x and o guy) or a Thad Motta/Mark Turgeon type guy.

quick question, I read somewhere on here that Wake would have to give us 500,000 if Bz took the job. Is that gonna happen or did it already?

That is what his contract states... but I haven't read anywhere about whether it happened or not.

if this comes to be, you have to note how Bohn dodges yet another national HC search.....(joking a little bit, but not entirely). Someone, maybe Boulder Buff, used the phrase "path of least resistance"....pretty apt. i like Dunlap OK for the job.

This Wellman guy is a class act...

It's courtesy to call an AD before you speak to their coach.

The Boulder Daily Camera reported Monday that Wellman did not call Athletics Director Mike Bohn of Colorado to ask for permission to speak with Bzdelik. Wellman said he did call Bohn."I did talk with Mike on Saturday," Wellman said. "I called him Saturday around noon and told him of my interest in Jeff. He asked me if I had talked with Jeff at that point, and I told him that I had, that I had talked with Jeff the previous week, and just wanted to explore if Jeff would be interested in our position.
"I told Mike that there had been no offer and certainly no acceptance of an offer at that point. But I told him it was my intention at that point -- because we had been exploring a number of candidates up to then -- that I was planning to ask Jeff to come for a visit on Monday.
"Then after I called Jeff and confirmed the visit on Monday, I called Mike back and left him a voice mail and told him that if he would like to call me back, that would be fine, but that Jeff was coming out to visit on Monday and that he was the only candidate that was coming for a visit and that he could probably tell what direction I was leaning on this and that Jeff was our top candidate."

Wellman said he had no hard feelings toward Bohn.

"And Mike and Jeff talked, I think it was Sunday night, and had a very good conversation," Wellman said. "I think Mike has handled it very, very well and Jeff has handled it very, very well."

Why would Wellman have hard feelings towards Bohn? Bohn got ****ed in all this
