I drove past the CEC center hoping to see some crane's and bulldozers and there was absolutely nothing there. They put up like a quarter of a chain link fence and a sign, but they have not started construction yet. Are they actually going to build this thing or are they blowing smoke up our asses

My guess is that they are waiting until after classes end. This thing is going to be attached to coors and they hold final exams in there. They aren't going to start tearing up that area until all that finals are done I bet. I think we'll start to see things happening within a couple of weeks. Once students are gone, they're gonna get rolling.

Why bother? Jeff B is gone, so no contractual obligation. Our school is not concerned about athletics. The sooner you realize that, the better off you will be.

Are people really that upset about the practice facility being behind where they expected it to be... less than a month after the groundbreaking ceremony?

Can't we just start another "bitch about Hawkins thread"?

I was kidding around, I suppose. But think about it....being down here in BF Texas, I am surrounded my dbags who will turn over their first-born for their team. Not saying that I would ever do that for CU.....but goddamn it, we should at least be competitive. I suppose I feel better now...thanks for listening...

Typical construction project, they know when it supposed to be completed. Particularly in a university setting where there are not a lot of people around in the summer. They did some major projects at my alma mater while I was there. I stayed on campus one summer and witnessed the majority of workers "taking a break" for the majority of the summer and then all of a sudden the project was miraculously done for the school year.

There are a lot of things like permitting, submittal review and approval, sub contractor contracts, mobilization, setting up construction offices, submission of bonds, submission of insurance, schedule approval, etc. The Contractor has to submit safetey plans, sediment and errosion control plans, quality control plans. Lots of ****. Hold your ****ing horses! Capice?!!

And 99% of that stuff you do before you break ground, as in i'm sure most of that is already in the rear view.

Or it's not done yet and, while they do intend to build it, the actual "groundbreaking" ceremony was just to blow smoke up our asses and Bzdelik's and to fulfull their contractual obligation to Bzz, which is irrelevant now anyway.....

Yep. They also do some graduation ceremonies there (my brother's was in there).

Is the new practice facility another bubble or will this actually have some bricks and concrete?

Are you telling us that you are actually graduating? :wow:

I know, right? Not bad making it through in four years without taking a Maymester, summer, or online class while spending so much time partying, working, and posting on allbuffs.

Congratulations, man! Now go get a job. :smile2:

All good things must come to an end. Any way you can prolong your time in Boulder? Grad school, maybe?

I suggest not . Especially in the business world, you should be able to get someone to pay for it or at least help you pay for it.

I got through in four years with only taking one session of summer school (two classes). Worst mistake I ever made.

I took a half victory lap (and had to take a semester off to work). I was happy with those decisions :smile2:. well, the victory lap wasn't my decision. ****ing advisors.

Well I will be looking for a job somewhere between here and Denver so I'll be close. I also have a bunch of friends who will still be here for their victory laps and my lady friend lives in Boulder so I'll have some good excuses to enjoy this place. I also still have my lease until August so the entire summer is mine!!

Yeah, advisers almost ****ed me over. I have heard some horror stories about them way too often. It's pretty ****ed up how they can make mistakes that can **** over a kid.
