Favorite Big Al moment

In honor of Alfred going to the hall, what is your favorite memories from his days at CU?

These things stand out to me.

1. His catch playing TE against a bad KSU team in 1990. We were way up (ended up winning 64-3), and Mac put Al in as a TE, he caught a long pass from 3rd string QB Vance Joseph. His comment about the play, "Oh you know me you know, I'm the Michael Jordan of college football so I had to go up and get it, ah ha ha."

2. 1990 Orange bowl, ND trying to drive in the final seconds (after the infamous clip). Alfred puts pressure on Mirer, almost sacks him, takes him to the ground, and gives Mirer an earful.

3. His laugh and how much of a character he was, one of the three H-Boys with Kanavis and Art Walker. GREAT BUFF!

Sack against Texas for the safety in Austin, think that one is probably big to him playing near home.

That's the one that came to my mind too but I couldn't recall for sure if it was Al or Kanavis who was playing TE in that game.

These stories make me miss CU football. God I loved it when we smacked teams around and were up by 50 points at halftime. I loved it when we could screw around by putting our best defensive player of all time at TE. I loved it when we had a coach that players would run through a F*CKING wall for. Sigh. I miss CU football.

I'm sure we could get Simas drunk enough.....

i wonder how a play like that, with such a big lead, would be perceived in today's college football world?

My favorite Big Al moment? Easy...

One late night/early morning at Taco Bell some idots thought they'd **** with a group of football players. The group included Kanavis and Al--and on this night Kanavis was the agressive one; it actually looked like some **** was going to go down.

The guys behind the Taco Bell counter were understandably nervous. Just when it looked like violence was unavoidable some opportunist outside sprinted up between a car and the drive-through window, grabbed a sack of food from the employee who wasn't paying enough attention, and sprinted off. The surprised Taco Bell worker screamed, and we all turned and watched this guy sprint off with the bag. Big Al burst out laughing and it was enough to diffuse the entire situation.

Good times.

Allsome story. Too bad you had to make the tacos again though. :sad1:

The sack in Nebraska is my all time favorite play. I never screamed so loud in my life. That. Was. Awesome.

Both Al and Kanavis lined up at TE that game. Al caught his pass, Kanavis dropped his. I had a fields-eye view for that one.

My favorite Al moment was when he smack talked me on my recruiting trip in the Harvest house confrence room. Telling me Houston was harder than Florida. He was always entertaining.

i liked it when AW made george cry.

Al, Like any good student at a University of good academic standing was simply proving through experimentation the theorum stated by the student body in attendance at the stadium that day. Dramatic proof, the likes of which Al Gore dreams of offering for man made climate change, of the theory that George was indeed a vital part of the female reproductive system rather than a Division one quarterback.
