Zooker beats him out.. Here's what he says about Talkins..
2. Dan Hawkins, Colorado Buffaloes:
Hawk is very fortunate to have received one more shot to get the Buffs turned around. Last offseason, he made some bold talk. His team certainly did not back it up, going 3-9, which is less than one-third of the wins we were hearing about. In fact, their national TV loss to Toledo may have been the most embarrassing loss in the program's history, a CU source told me recently. On paper, Hawkins has recruited pretty well, but most of his highest-rated recruits have fizzled at CU. His record is 16-33.

 Hmm, I wonder who Feldman's CU source is..

That "CU source" must have a short memory. Off the top of my head, I can think of the 2 losses to Drake and the Montana State loss that were way more embarrassing. Granted they weren't on nat'l TV, but they were more embarrassing than the Toledo loss.

70-3 was more embarrassing than a Friday night game that pretty much no one watched.

I agree and the funny thing is that Longhorn fans down here in Austin were complaining all througout the 2008 season after they lost to Tech about now Stoops has no class for running up the score - They shouldn't throw stones

Yep, Toledo was THE Friday night game, which means it was splashed on TV screens at sports bars across America. Every red-blooded male who was out drinking that night probably caught a glimpse of some carnage. My buddy from Wisconsin texted me that night and said something to the effect of "CU is not very good."

sadly, i think a lot of people watched that game since it was the only CFB game on at the time. if i'm wrong, i couldn't be happier about it.

Alot of embarrassing ones, Missouri takes the cake with me. They have flat embarrassed us the last 3 games.

What is it going to take to have Talkins move into the number 1 spot? The 3-9 and Toledo nightmare should have more than cemented his place!!!

I think the current CU team would lose by more than 70-3 to the 2005 Texas team. Hawk fluffers love to point to that loss as the low point in an effort to insinuate that the team is somehow better now. I think it's worse. Substantially worse.

i agree. more important to me than a gaudy blowout against the eventual national champs in a game we are only in because ISU's kicker choked, is how the team plays against equal talent. barney's guys were generally in games even when they lost against North peers. Or: took care of business and had a comfortable W for every egg since there were some of those too. Hawk has been awful against North "peer" teams. especially on the road.

Well, to Texas's credit, they did score 70 early in the 3rd quarter. If they kept running up the score, they could've reached 100. That was why that game was the most embarrassing for me.

Losing in the Big 12 championship game to a Texass team that had Vince Young and about a dozen eventual first round draft picks is nothing in comparison to losing to a Toledo team with a first year head coach and maybe 1-2 guys on the entire team that will get drafted. Not drafted in the first round, just drafted. It was sickening.

However, for my money, Hawk's biggest failure in his four years at CU is his complete inability to effectively scout Missouri. He's gone into each game with them with the exact same gameplan. I guess he didn't bring enough lunchboxes.

I'm not sure CU will have more than 2-3 players that were on the field that day that get drafted. Jimmy Smith, Nate Solder and then.....I'm not sure, quite honestly.

We lose 70-3. That was the bottom.
That Texas game ruined my life! I wonder if that game wasn't the beginning of the end for the Big 12 as it currently stands. I think that Texas is really an SEC team and needs to be in that conference. And the Big 12 needs to be a larger version of the Big 8. But by now it may be too late. NU and MU off to the Big 10 and Colorado to the Pac 10 and it will be adios to the old Big 8

I was cruising around on youtube the other day and watched DH's post-Toledo presser. I don't recommend it.....but, it's instructive. and mind-blowing in some regards.

I am a lazy asshat and rat bastard....how about a link?
