Dallas Morning News exclusive: Emails show BU regent pushing for Bears over CU

HAven't seen that one before...

My favorite whopper from ol' Cap'n Buddy this time...
Here is the message to deliver:

• The four Texas schools in the Big XII conference have decades (if not a century) of history as being a family. The continuation of this almost sacred relationship is important to our State and to higher education in Texas.

You mean that "sacred" relationship you all had with TCU and Rice right up until it was time to form the Big XII and there wasn't room for them?????

Exactly. Don't forget SMU, too.

SMU didnt do anything that Texas didnt, yes they did some cheating but most schools do, not a real big surprise. You are right though, most schools dont care much for UT.

Should be interesting when Baylor comes to Boulder on 10/16. It could get ugly. Especially if CU gets ****ed over.

i like the small town in Colorado thing. and the use of the word "dwarfs".

Small town in CO? Boulder has a hell of a lot more to offer than Waco does. Waco is a truck stop on I-35 between Dallas and San Antonio...

Our biggest problem is weak ass leadership, Boulder has plenty to offer thats a given. Need to get ours, **** everybody else.

yes, of course. 50,000 people came from all over the world to Boulder just last week. my point was it was a ridiculous statement.

Baylor: Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Texas: Shut the **** up before I back slap you with my ringed hand.

Baylor: I love you Daddy.

Texas: What did I just say.

Baylor: I love you.

No one is buying Buddy's version of evangalism in the comments section.

Between Kenneth Starr and Cap'n Buddy, Baylor has some slimy leadership.

Hey Baylor, WWJD?

Im starting to get on the away from Texas boat, CU should sell itself **** Baylor and Texas. I know how they work, kind of hard not to when u live there.

they are ranked more than 100 slots lower than us on any reputable academic scale known to man.

if they think football was invented in the last 3 years, i have no doubt that this view will be dealt with strongly.

CU doesn't need to do this in the press. CU is taking the high road and handling this properly with the right people. baylor is just illustrating that they are little bitch hangers-on who have NEVER been an elite program and have a 3rd rate school.

we don't need to stoop that low to win.

Copied this from a poster who summed it up perfectly if you ask me. This Baylor stuff is hilarious!

dear buddy jones and nytimes,

Baylor is not at all superior to Colorado academically. they can't even get their heads around evolution, and you want to put them in the same conference as Berkley! please, baylor has nothing to offer, their current most famous grad is Allen Stanford!

You know I was reading the comments section in the article and it seems that most of the people down there aren't buying it at all. Heck a bunch of them are even pointing out that Colorado brings way more to the table as a school and media market than Baylor could ever dream of. I think the Baylor over TCU thing left a lot of people royally pissed and the folks down there don't seem to want their legislature to be wasting time on helping out some backwater private school. I hope that is a reflection of most Texans in general. I think if this is all Baylor can do then I think Colorado may just weather this storm.

Baylor football the past 4 years (when they've supposedly become better than CU during the Hawkins rebuilding era):

2006: 4-8
2007: 3-9
2008: 4-8
2009: 4-8

BU Total: 15-33 (4 wins against 1-AA competition), 6 conference wins, 0 bowl games, avg Rivals recruiting class rank of 52.25 (high of #39)

In what is largely considered the worst slump in our program's history, let's see how CU compares with what Baylor fans consider a great period for their program:

CU Total: 16-33 (1 win against 1-AA competition), 10 conference wins, 1 bowl game, avg Rivals recruiting class rank of 40.25 (high of #15)

It's not even worth going into the history, but it's fun to do so. CU's a top 25 program in all-time wins and in prestige (as ranked by ESPN). We've also got a national championship, Heisman winner, multiple winners of the other national awards (Mackey, Thorpe, etc.), multiple members in the college football hall of fame, a Big 12 championship, and a winning record against Texas A&M and Texas Tech as well as Baylor (Texas has us at 7-10). We're the only program in the nation that has beaten Texas-Oklahoma-Nebraska in the same season and we've done it multiple times, and we even have a winning record against current Pac 10 members (38-34-1) despite going 0-5 versus USC (note how often we're playing tough non-conference opponents despite the difficulty of the conference we've been in). What does Baylor have going for it in football? Well, I think I remember Mike Singletary playing for them in the 1970s.

Baylor also talks about its recent success in men's basketball. And I will be the first to admit that they did a much better job of bouncing back from the scandal of covering up a murder within the program than we did of bouncing back from the scandal of sexual misconduct being alleged against some of our players. Their Elite 8 run this past season was very nice. Too bad they had that loss to CU on their resume. If we hadn't abused them in Boulder, I may have been a bit more impressed by their run. Also, CU has more NCAA tourney appearances than Baylor. Kind of sad when you consider they pride themselves on basketball.

im starting to think baylor is shooting themselves in the foot... colorado seems to be taking the high road... and they are just bad mouthing and bull****ting there way to conference usa ill tell you right now i dont think baylor ends up in anywhere favorably for them if this thing goes down

Nik - Great stuff....the problem is, these Baptist boobs are saying they are better, and there is not ****ing anybody refuting this bull****. What the hell?

There is not anybody refuting it in the media. Which is not where it needs to be refuted.

I'm starting to strongly suspect that Buddy and Ken are wallpapering the media because nobody at the Pac-10 will return their calls. Honestly, what is the point of sharing all this information through the media when the people who are making the decision are in LA and highly unlikely to be swayed by Dallas talk radio. In fact, guys in a position of power like the Pac-10 commissioners and Presidents generally don't take very well to being publicly pressured the way Buddy, Kenny and the gang of 15 are trying to do. It strikes me as the tactics of a desperate group, but if UT is willing to back them hard enough on this, they still might get their way.

The Media rules our world...we need to be out in front of this...

The Media rules our world...we need to be out in front of this...

The media is not making this decision. I would like to hear somebody from CU address the issue, in general terms... "we are reviewing all our options and communicating with all appropriate parties and look forward to having a resolution in short order". Something like that. Do I want Plati and Benson running around mudslinging against Baylor?? Hell no. Why should they look like the total assclowns Buddy and Kenny are turning in to??

As long as CU is talking to folks at the Pac-10, and I believe they are, they don't need to fight this in front of TV cameras and on talk radio...
