Replace CSU, AF, WYO, NM, UNLV, SDSU and Hawaii with leftover ACC/Big East teams that hold larger markets and stronger overall programs, and you've got a start of something that wouldn't suck.

Not a terrible idea. Since the lower fourth of this league is so shallow, I'd limit it to 12. I'd drop Hawaii, Wyoming, SDSU and CSU.

Maybe you go to 14 if you can go east and snag Memphis & Louisville.

I'd drop Hawaii for SMU. SMU has the resources and the drive to become relevent in sports again, as proven by their June Jones contract. The have a natural rivalry with TCU going back 75yrs, they are not a continent away, they are in the Dallas market, and they have good academics (if that still matters to anyone). Also, if you've been to Dallas you know lower Greenville can be kinda fun.

Otherwise, I like what you've done here.

I wouldn't want Hawaii, necessarily. That would be a tough trek for Colorado. Maybe Fresno State, or SMU, as others have suggested.

Of course, if you wanted to enhance the academic profile of the new conference, you invite Rice (#17 in USN&WR).

We wont be left in the dust, it's either Big 12 or Pac 16. We are in the plans, and there's nothing Baylor or any texas politicians can do about it!

Whatever happens, if CU does not get the PAC invite we are totally screwed. If we end up is some version of the new MWC we can count on much less tv revenue that we currently get from the Big12. Does anyone think that ESPN, Fox or any other major network is going to kick down the door with truck loads of cash so they can lock up the broadcast rights for a football game between WYO and SDSU, or a basketball game between KU and Boise St?

If CU ends up in the MWC we will forever be a team that will be happy to win 6-7 games a year and get the bowl invite to the Big Earl's Used Car Blowout bowl, December 13, live from Roswell NM, broadcast on some tv channel with a market penetration of 85 tv sets in the four corners region.

Our coaching searches will consist of finding the next great high school coach, and we can forever forget about adding additional sports, facility upgrades.

:yeahthat:

I thought this was pretty well settled last night. Baylor is not on the Pac-10s list of potential members. Maybe UT would resort to hard-core blackmail on their behalf if it came to that, but frankly I doubt it...

What a nightmare just realizing a school like ours might not have a seat at the big boy's table.

Amazing.

well, I hope we get an invite to the PAC 16 or whatever its called...as it looks like kNU to the Big 10 is close to a done deal. This should get interesting (and kind of exciting)

Having said that, the more I think about it, I wouldn't mind being in that new conference as I outlined it. I like the regional rivalry idea, as well as adding TCU and BSU. Call me crazy?

My idea is IF and ONLY IF the Pac 10 and Big 10 conferences raid the Big XII and we happen to be left in the dust. IF that were to occur, this, to me, seems like a good option.

But I would LOVE for CU to get baseball and softball.

OK. My main complaint, then, is one of timing.
I don't even want to think about, let alone perpetuate any discussion about the worst case scenario, let along engage in any discussion about it until Plan A (Pac16) or Plan B (Big12 status quo) fall through.

This discussion at this point in time just stokes the flames that Kizla and the Mountain Weenie started.

Now you are talking Ruff Buffy! I said all along to know your role and that is MWC is the best place for CU. You might be able to actually compete and win some gains for bowl eligibility. Granted it's not BCS caliber, but is CU really a BCS school anyway? Does CU even play football anymore? I read somewhere that Conf USA may be in the cards with Chuckie Neinas. Neinas is a friend to UT for steering you down whatever current path you are on which seems to be irrelevancy. UT in the Rose Bowl each year is going to be niiiiiiice! We'll send you a postcard, now go get my fries and slippers. Fetch, Ralpie!

Hey dumbass...you do realize that the only path that has Texass sniffing the stadium that the Rose Bowl is held in is if you keep all of your little sisters together in your little Texas league, play most of your games in Texass, and keep scheduling the really little girls in Texas for your OOC. That way you may be able to skate into a MNC game...but if you come to the Pac you won't be seeing the Rose.

Hope y'all keep dorking around and the world changes underneath you. I get teh feeling the Pac and all of the other conferences are smarter than you and would love to see them all just leave you behind to wither on the vine.

I think 'Leash will prove to be prophetic here.
Although there was the famous Shanahan incident...
