krieger's article has no place on the front page of the paper, especially right now. it is a blatant effort to discredit the flagship university in colorado, and a furtherance of their short-sighted political agenda.

i am done with them.

:yeahthat:

I though Krieger, for once, did a pretty good job of discussing what it was and then closed with this:

"The truth is CU has had a bunch of issues in both programs since 2005 and the APR scores reflect them. The worst scores date to the 2006-07 academic year, and they have been on the upswing since.
Football and men's basketball had good APR numbers in the 2008-09 academic year and CU, knowing the unreleased numbers for 2009-10, expects that trend to continue.

The worst of these problems are in the past. The scholarship penalties have already been taken. In short, like so much of what comes out of the NCAA, this latest report is old news."

This column is far better than the ****zla piece from the other day.

i mainly object to the position of the article and the headline right under the front page masthead; as well as the lead in paragraph.

the editorial staff at the paper have an agenda, and i disagree with their tactics.

i am done with them.

And to be fair, this was the front page story on CUBuffs.com yesterday. However, FC, I fully support you canceling your subscription.

Look these jackassed infotainment hounds write stuff to piss you off, reaction = ratings/readership. If you want to hit them, send a letter or e-mail cancellng, explaining why, that is copied to the PR depts. of the biggest advertisers you see in that glorified roll of toilet tissue. Hint: the biggest advertisers are the folks with the biggest ads.

It was a decent piece, and helps to explain better to the masses that this is old news and things are getting better at CU. If they were going to run something on the front page of the sports section about our APR anyway, I'm actually happy that they ran this one as well to help explain it away.

Then again, I only have the online version to judge it on since I haven't had a subscription in 10 years.

yeah, I thought it was a pretty fair article FC explaining why this happened. What part pissed you off so much?

bump this. I'd like to see this thread be the headline all day. That might take some fast fingers on a day like today....

I spoke to them, too.

I was right there with you on the DP, but Ryan Casey (Colorado Prep Editor) reached out to Buff fans today and will have an article tomorrow. If it's good, we should try to support him. We need someone at the DP who is willing to be educated and fair about issues relating to the Buffs and understands the importance of supporting the state's flagship university. I'm crossing my fingers in hope that he can be that guy.

Sweet Buddy. This just means you'll have more beer money at the Darkhorse once basketball season comes around. :smile2:

On Allbuffs does DP sometimes mean "double penetration" or can we assume it always means "Denver Post"?

I need to know for practical reasons, so I can start spelling out "double penetration" if I need to.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Excellent question that I'm sure has been on the minds of many AB members.

"DP" = "Denver Post" and "dp" = "double penetration" in the Official AllBuffs Lexicon. Lately, however, they have mostly been interchangeable and this will be duly noted when the 2011 Edition goes to press.
