Should CU schedule Fuskers in OOC?

Which OOC format do you favor?

Now that the only way we could meet the Fuskers is in the Rose Bowl, do you think we should regularly schedule them in OOC?

I would much rather have the Nebraska game as an annual "neutral site" game at Mile High and relegate the CSU game to a Home/Home or a 2/1 game in our OOC schedule.

Thoughts?

With the possibility of only three OOC games, and a contract with CSU for the next 10 years, I think we need to be looking at scheduling teams like UNC, Mines, and Ft. Lewis.

Give the husker game a rest through the end of the CSU @ Invesco contract - 2020. And then let's revisit this idea.

CU is going to have it's hands full with the new conference. After 10 years, I might get excited about a nostalga series, especially if CU is a ranked team.

I like that Bohn is trying to do neat things like the Yankee Stadium-Army game. Locking into long term contract with two programs instead of just the CSU deal is just too confining. Besides, CSU should be a cupcake game, which the Buffs need right now. If CSU broke the contract, NU is the obvious replacement. I'd love it if the Nubs agreed to a game exclusively in invesco, but that won't happen.

The schedule formula should be CSU, one cupcake, and one BCS school. Ideally, the BCS school is on a college campus with a great tailgate tradition. CU still owes the fans a trip to LSU. It would be great to get an AFA deal.

I've appriciated the commitment for CU to travel to West Virginia, Hawaii, Georgia, Florida State, Wisconsin, Michigan, and our new Pac16 member locations over the years. Let's keep that going.

We might be willing to do a 2 for 1 with you guys. 2 in Lincoln of course. Not sure if CU has the clout to pull a home and home with NU.

I just dont see it happening. Both teams are on to new things, and going in new directions. Time to shelf the game, maybe down the road someday but not anytime soon.

True. CU doesn't have the clout nor the desire for any 2 for 1 with the corn.

I just love how this reallignment strands all these Colorado based Husker fans, who are, at this point, the only ones who think this topic is particularly interesting.

I guarantee there are a lot more depressed NU fans in Colorado than the opposite.

Any Colorado fan longing for the old Big 8 days atleast have the Oklahoma schools as a keepsake.

Enjoy your newcomer status with the Golden Gophers and Hawkeyes. It sounds exciting.

 thats what you are happy about, keeping ties with OU? If I was you I would hope they don't find their way to the PAC with you, unless you want yearly ass kickings to remind you of yesteryear.

We need to focus on new challenges and new rivalries not old ones. Nostalgia is nice and all but let's look west instead of east. Our conference schedule annually will include divisional games against Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Arizona, and Arizona State. We will be in a conference with a lavish tv revenue deal, if we are still in that much financial dispair that we need to schedule Nebraska for money then we have just begun to scratch the surface of our troubles.

Last I checked, Dan Hawkins still has scoreboard on OU.

There's no way we'll play Nebraska in the OOC as long as Osborne is running the show (or is it a cardboard cutout of the Crypt Keeper, I can't tell?).

Bohn completely dodged it when asked about rivalry games yesterday. He talked about CSU and creating new ones within the Pac 11+.

Be cool if we met in a Rose Bowl. It would also be a pretty big event if we would schedule a home-and-home next decade after it has been gone for a while. Tough to get on the Corn's schedule, though. The Cornchickens are only willing to risk playing one real OOC game every year. This year, for example, they've got Western Kentucky, Idaho, Washington and South Dakota State. They're probably scheduled pretty far out just like we are. And if we're both playing 9-game conference schedules it's going to be extra difficult to make it happen.

I voted CSU at Invesco, no Cornchicken game.

Damn! Beat me to it. Plus, I'll take recruiting ties to 2 of the 3 most talent rich states and a television contract every bit is as good as the Big 10 Network anyday. I'll be curious to watch how well NU recruits in the Big 10. That and how CSU and their conference brethren survive if the 4 super conferences happen.

knowing that we will play OU, Texas, OSU, TT, AZ, ASU every year w/USC, Oregon & Cal sprinkled in Colorado must only play state schools such as Utah St, New Mexico St, San Jose St, Sam Houston St ....

You forgot Colorado St

Yeah you can have the academic challenged Mobilhoma schools. I thought you wanted to join a conference with higher academic prestige?

Man I am loving the Big Ten network already. They carried our press conference and had a two hour expansion special on Nebraska yesterday. I am sure the Pac 10 Network did the same for you. The Big Ten Network is going to start showing Nebraska sports on it even before we officially join the league July 1, 2011. I wonder who CU will play Thanksgiving 2012? Probably Baylor or ISU.

Probably the only school Dan Hawkins has scoreboard on. You guys really trying to pump up Dan? The Pac 10 thing sure has changed things around here.

Do you really wonder about that? Really?

Personally, I don't have the first idea who the nubs will play Thanksgiving 2012, nor do I give a damn.

Yea, that isnt gonna last long

When was the last time NU beat a #3 ranked team? And "almost" doesn't count.

Follow up. When do change your screen name to CSU Sooner?

Trust me, we still don't want Dan around. What people are saying is that even during the worst 4 years in our history we have still won significant games. Scoreboard? How bout TT. Twice. aTm. Shoot the only team in the Big 12 North Dan hasn't beat is Mizzou. Fuskers of all people should know that all it takes to turn things around is a coaching change.

Nebraska hasn't beaten a top 20 team since Frank Solich was its coach.

Of course we're not pumping up Dan Hawkins. But as incredibly bad as his record has been, it's still .500 or better in the Big 12 against Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor and Iowa State. Everyone else has scoreboard on the Buffs under Hawkins, but I'm certainly not going to take any crap from any of those programs. If you couldn't have a winning record against CU during the first 4 years of Hawkins, you never will.

Not trying to pump up Dan.
I'm simply pointing out that Nebraska is completely walking away from their Big 8 heritage, while CU is not. The Sooners are a more successful football program than Nebraska, and add more value to our new conf than the bugeaters. And CU has scoreboard on the sooners with one of the worst coaches in our storied history.

When you are watching all those classic Huskers games on the BTN with your box of tissues and bottle of jerkins, those images on the screen will be of current Pac16 members.

Enjoy the Con-Agra/Monsanto Conference!

See ya'. Wouldn't want to be ya'.

Pelini has beat two teams in the top 20

YAWN. One highlight in the Hawk era, enjoy the rest of it.

Won't be a problem. Dan will be a blip on the radar of CU football history. Enjoy watching your alma mater's ride on the shortbus to obscurity...or at least more obsure than now.

A prefer to look to the future. While CU is tripping over bags of cash and enjoying Thanksgiving weekend without the Fuskers, what will LammieFusker be doing?

And in the future, who do you see CU beating in the PAC? Washington? Money isnt the solution to everything, look at ND. You need a real coach, good luck with that.
