Poor Baylor

Mountain West Conference sources confirmed that the league is sending out feelers to Big 12 members that may be left out in any continued conference shake-up, most notably Kansas and Missouri.
Kansas State would be another option. Baylor, however, would not be.

On the same day the MWC officially added Boise State, sources said TCU will lobby the MWC against Baylor's inclusion should the Big 12 school be left out of the impending conference realignment.

Despite success in nearly every sport but football, Baylor may not be so welcome in another MWC expansion. Some TCU officials and powerful alums remain irked over the way Baylor was included in the Big 12 after the breakup of the Southwest Conference. The Frogs were left out.

Ha ha ha ha, awesome!!!

After being beaten up by Baylor fans and lobbyist's over the past two weeks while CU officials remained quiet, I would enjoy watching them disolve into the SunBelt conference. ha ha.

I think Baylor really screwed itself by throwing it's little tantrum the last couple weeks. They're toxic now. Nobody wants them.

Do you think even Texas is embarrassed by how Baylor kept saying "we're so important to Texas. They won't go anywhere without us. We're BFF."

I would have been.

Well, yeah. It looks like TCU still has it's panties in a wad over not being included in the Big 12, and is now in a position to block Baylor in the MWC. TCU is the big dog in the MWC, so if it says no to Baylor, Baylor is screwed.

Damn, it looks like Baylor is WAC bound, or maybe C-USA. That's terrible. For all the animosity that has been thrown around the last couple weeks, Baylor isn't a terrible school. It's athletics are decent. They'll probably end up doing pretty well in the WAC, if that's where they end up.

I mean, I don't have any hard feelings about CSU, because kids need somewhere to go to school.
But I really don't have any strong opinion about where they play their games or which conference they play in.

wonder if Rice, Houston and SMU would **** block them from CUSA

I hope so.

Honestly, when the conference already has 2 schools from Houston, 1 from El Paso and 1 from Dallas, what does a school from Waco get you? C-USA is better off waiting for UT-San Antonio to make it to D1 in football.

Nothing would please me more than an announcement that Baylor is joining the Sun Belt.

That's not true, actually. Seeing their football team finish last in the Sun Belt would please me more.

Some quotes from their forum today

My Dad the Lawyer brought this up,

Since we spent so much money to upgrade our facilities so that could attract the recruits we needed to compete with UT and the other state schools, and now they're leaving us in the dust, can we bring any legal action against them to recoup those (now) losses?

When the dust settles
I hope Baylor makes a point to refuse any road games against Big XII deserters. Frankly I wouldn't even agree to a home game for at least 5 years. Call me bitter, I could care less.

Governor Perry:

First and foremost I would like to commend you on your handling of the current athletic realignment in college sports. Your alma mater and the University of Texas stand to make tens of millions annually as a part of new conferences.

However, I am disappointed about the current situation my Baylor Bears face. I understand that Cal-Berkeley would not accept a Christian school in the Pac-10. I cannot understand how Texans can take such treatment from a Californian. I am sure the Cal grad now running UT was extremely distressed by that fact.

This is a very Republican state and the conservative fervor sweeping the nation will surely guarantee you another term in office. As a life-long resident of Houston, I have proudly voted before numerous times. Unfortunately, unless things change, you will no longer be receiving my vote. Being no more than a single voice in a large state, I know my vote will not turn the election in the slightest. I just want to make you aware that my sentiment is widely held by my fellow Baptists and Baylor Bears. Matt Mosely, of ESPN, made this point in a recent article. You should be aware that he is correct.

I am proud of my University. We have remained a small Christian school, attempting to promote hard work, discipline, and faith in Jesus Christ in all aspects. This has shined through in academics, athletics, and our reputation in Texas. Despite all of our strengths, we have not had recent success in football and we are located in a small market.

I never expected California or anyone else outside of this State to care about a small Christian school in a small Texas market. But I expect you to care. This is a sad day for the Baylor community. We look forward to voting for Mayor Bill White (who did great for us in Houston) so we can have a governor who will look out for the interests of all Texans, not just those represented by good football teams

I for the life of me do not understand why TCU people can just blindly hate us so incredibly much.

They are stronger now than they have ever been.

If it had been them instead of us in the Big XII I believe that most likely the same thing that happened to us would have happened to them. Admittedly they might have gone to a bowl game or two but they would have died on the altar of the weekly grind in the Big XII overall.

But no because they were left out they now have a strong program that has been to a BCS bowl and multiple others and in a relatively strong conference where they are a threat to win the title each and every season.

So a different set of leaders reaaaalllllyyyy screwed them out of success 14 years ago. They have really died and disappeared haven't they.

Why the insane hatred?

The letter to Governor Perry is heart wrenching.

Great idea....vote for a guy with questionable morals versus somebody who doesn't care about your poor, pathetic existence...

HOUSTON — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White denied Thursday that he has improperly benefited from a profitable investment in an energy company hired to help the Houston area recover from Hurricane Rita five years ago, the same time he was the city's mayor.
White also ripped his Republican opponent, incumbent Gov. Rick Perry, for exploiting what he called a false story. Perry has accused White of "profiteering" from the hurricane, and White said voters should "expect to see more of these personal attacks."
A year after a regional water authority hired the Houston-based and privately held BTEC Turbines following Rita's assault on the Texas Gulf Coast, White invested $1 million in the company, for which he once served as a director. His tax returns showed he has recorded a $500,000 profit from the investment.
