teams in play that could impact us:

ut, atm, ou, okie state, ku, utah, tech, mizzery, baylor

conferences in the mix:

sec: rumors concering ut, atm, ou, osu, mizzery, and ku

p10: rumors concerning ut, atm, ou, osu, tech, utah, and ku

how will it shake out?

possibilities that seem somewhat plausible to me:

1. pac adds ut, atm, tech, osu, and ou. p16.

2. pac adds either ku or utah. p12. b12 holds together at 10 or poaches a couple other teams.

3. pac adds ut, osu, utah or ku, tech, and ou. p16. sec adds atm and mizzery. sec 14.

4. sec adds ou and osu. pac adds ut, atm, tech, utah, and ku.

aaaaaaaah. my head is spinning!

so many permutations!

Sit back and have a beer, or a glass of wine, or some scotch, or even a mimosa.

We know where we are going. :smile2:

It is fun watching this all go down, knowing we've secured our spot on the ship.

It is pretty crazy, and I still have a hard time believing the Big 12 is being imploded in front of our eyes. :wow:

you guys are right--- it is nice to have a seat even tho the music hasn't stopped playing yet.

now, of course, i am getting greedy and hoping the seat isn't next to the most rumored texas 5 (ou, osu, tech, atm, and ut).

if we could peel off even ONE of those 5 and replace them with utah or ku, i think it would be really good for CU.

i think they have to go to the pod setup. i like a pod of CU, utah, asu, ua. it is much better than CU, tech, asu, and ua. and it is WAY, WAY better than 2 traditional divisions with us in with ut, atm, ou, osu, asu, and ua.

we'll see. now that we have it, i want it ALL. why not?

The pod system will not happen unless the traditional Pac 8 schools all have yearly games in SoCal.

Having said that.

I want at most 2 Texas schools. Forget A&M, they don't fit. Tech doesn't fit either but we'll take 'em with Texas. Hello Utah and KU. Why not both?

In a pod system how would they determine who played in the CCG game? Seems like that could be a bit of a mess.

TV may have a say in this POD system.
Thought part of the idea of a Pac 16 was to get Texas VS USC, OU VS Oregon.....
no POD and USC/Texas only happens twice every 8 years ...

If it ends up holding at PAC 12, I believe 90% it's Utah as the 12th. KU could pull some last minute voodoo, but even that might not be enough. It's not like they're clearly better across the board. Though, I respect KU and realize the PAC would not lose by bringing the Jayhawks in. Nor would they lose with us.

Would much rather see Utah get the nod in that scenario. It would be interesting to see what Utah could build in a BCS conference.

fwiw, i hope it is you guys and not ku. i feel a little bad for ku because they do have a very storied bb program and they've been in the big leagues for a hundred years.

i disagree that they are not, historically speaking, clearly "better" than you, but that doesn't mean your fb isn't much better now. plus, i think you are a way better fit for the pac than ku. plus, there is a better natural rivalry with CU if it is you guys. plus, we add another mountain time zone school and also another ski team, so i like those things as well. plus, ku has been caught cheating again.

i am rooting for you. and, i am hoping for the days ahead when i "hate" you guys on the field almost as much as i currently hate the fuskers. that will be a good, good thing!

good luck!

Thanks for the good vibes, Liver.

In all my bias, I think we're a better cultural fit to the overall PAC than KU - like, by a long shot. That has nothing to do with KU as a school, because they are a very good one. But we know the ways of the PAC. And, they know us. I think the UofU has been working on this for years and knew all the metrics the PAC would be looking for should they come knocking. Utah is ready for the PAC and has been making itself ready for the last two decades. There are a legion of nuance things that make us slip in and fit in with more ease than KU. And that is no knock on KU.

I hope to add only Utah, and get a new network and TV deal, and make it the PAC-12. Unfortunately, if the Big XII stays intact, CU will have to pay the exit fee. If one more school leaves, like say KU instead of UU to the Pac-12, then the Big XII collapses, and perhaps they will have to create a new conference thus hopefully allowing CU to avoid the exit fee.

Don't get me wrong I'm ecstatic on CU's move and brave step to be the first domino, but we need those millions of $$ to get a new credible coach when Hack gets canned in 6 months.

I'm still clinging to the hope that the Pac only adds one more team and the Big 12 stays together -- partly just out of tradition, and also because I think the best part of the move is that we are now in a conference with more schools/towns like us and I want to pull the ladder up behind us before that changes -- but the more I think about the Pac 16 with a pod system, the more I like it. It would give us the benefit of the extra money and recruiting help associated with adding the Texas schools, without basically being more of a move to a new division of the Big 12 instead of an entirely new conference. I think a four team pod with ASU, UA, UU and us would be a lot of fun, and is quickly becoming my second favorite scenario by a wide margin.

i believe that warden tom is positioning the fuskers to not pay the exit fee. you heard him say that the league could survive the departure of 1 or 2 teams but not 6. i theorize that the fuskers are going to argue that the league constructively folded when 6 teams put themselves on the market and therefore nu didn't really exit but was constructively terminated by the implosion of the league. therefore, no exit fee will be due.

this will be a tougher argument for us to make since we went first (which is also why i am nearly certain that the p10 has agreed to share some of the financial burden if we end up having to pay to exit).

watch and see. the warden was choosing his words carefully.

I'm sure TV will have a say.

The traditional Pac powers are:
1. USC
2/3. UW/UCLA
4. Everyone else

All I'm saying is that there is no way a Northwest pod could be allowed to have a season without a game in LA or Austin. It won't happen.

The contast between FountainofUte and Corn_Fan is night and day different.

Advantage: Utah.
