Utah Gives Mountain West Intentions On Heading To Pac-10

I'm only surprised it took this long and never doubted this is what would happen all along.

Still better dead than red!

:woot: . good for Utah. glad to have a mountain brethren to match up against the coast and desert sissies. Now to commence the hatred.

Boise St. has to be crapping their pants right now...

They are still in a much better conference and financial position than they were a week ago.

Not sure if Boise was just a pre-emptive replacement for Utah, or if they will target more school(s). Noone else really helps their BCS cause in a major way.

I assume that Houston or Fresno St. are the likely replacements to get back to 10. I wonder if Houston would consider the MWC a step up from C-USA.

It all depends on TCU. If TCU gets an invitation to the Big XII and jumps then the C-USA might make an argument based on top to bottom balance. If TCU stays in the MWC then you have 2 of the BCS buster schools plus BYU which has a pretty reasonable amount of credibility in the same conference.

Nice. We need a regional conference rival. As it stood, we were a lone wolf...then we found out utah will be added and our wolfpack was increased by one making it a two team wolfpack within the 12 team wolfpack...:)

They were at 10 for less than a week. I think it's very possible they stay at 9 and just let BSU replace Utah...

I think adding Utah is awesome. I just feel like this new conference deal is going to pop.

Seriously, I hope Utah does get in. I agree a regional rival and travel partner would be nice. I am excited we are leaving the Texas and the nine sisters behind.

I really hope that the Pac-10 & Utah presser is still a very exciting one...hopefully Larry Scott will hide his disappointment.

If only Nevada was more "BCS worthy" adding a whole Wolfpack to our wolfpack would be allsome

But why not go to 10? I only see the upside in adding a new market and a competitive school. Is there any downside?

9 teams = 8 conference games, 4 home/4 away.

Teams like AFA, BYU, and TCU like to have flexibility in their OOC, so adding a 9th game would not be what they want, especially AFA who has two OOC games locked up with Army/Navy already.

TCU won't get invited until Texas leaves the conference. TCU has been a good program on the rise and that would threaten Texas recruiting. Baylor hates TCU and how they tried to **** block them from a MWC bid when everything was in limbo and TCU hates Baylor for taking their spot in the BigXII - Baylor has no say I know but Texas won't want to risk putting another game on the conf schedule. -they have a cupcake conference that they control and don't want to **** it up until they decide to destroy the rest of the conference and move on to the next one. Right now Texas is a rich man's Boise State. Everything is good for them (until there is an undefeated Big X or Pack 12 team and a 1 loss SEC team at the end of the season going into the National Championship game -- Would love that to happen so they have to lobby and hope for a bid to the NC

The BCS should give our conference another 20 million every year for inviting Utah and keeping Orin Hatch off of their ass for the near future.

The local Fox Sports station (San Francisco) is reporting the "exclusive" news that Utah is accepting an invitation to join the Pac-10.
I knew there was a reasonable justification for being at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach! :woot:
