5 Leftovers Have Agreed to Sign Over CU/NU Buy-Out $$$

Somebody already reported it, and it's kind of disturbing.

One of my squadronmates went to work for a very mean-spirited Admiral who seemed to delight in making my buddy's life a living hell. But my friend used to say, "You've got to draw the line somewhere. I will not suck that man's dick! But I will hold it in my mouth for a while..."

Apparently the "little five" aren't big into drawing lines.

Also being reported on message boards (can't find a link, so take this FWIW) that South can leave whenever without penalty payment. Lesser schools can't leave for 18 years without penalty payment. This is a conference within a conference.

i think in a year or three we'll see UT, ATM, and OU to the SEC or something on more amenable terms than maybe the current situation was going to afford UT (and the other two in the sidecar). I have to believe that UT will be begin re-working the ground for the next round starting yesterday. that's what i'd do.

Wow. It's all snowballing. I wonder if Texas Tech is going to approve this. Be very interesting if they went to the Pac now.

to UT/OU/A&M, per Stewart Mandel at SI.

LOL. I'm so glad we're out of that conference. What a disaster.

I am sure NU and CU will end up paying, but our Chancellor Harvey Perlman seems to believe there really is nothing in the Big XII bylaws that can really enforce the penalties. Perlman used to be our Law Dean and unless he is totally BSing (not his style) there might be something to this. Basically Perlman says the bylaws say that if a team leaves the conference and there are liguidated damages the team leaving owes the other teams they "damaged" monetary penalties.

Well the Big XII just cashed in just ask Beebe himself! Furthermore they may have NU and CU to thank for their new cash cow tv deal. This could hardly be considered damages to the remaining Big XII schools.

There has to be some emotional damage to ISU, Mizzou, KU and KSU, right? Can they claim that?

I saw this on twitter a little bit ago and really did laugh out loud. I'm sooo glad we're safe in the Pac 12 with our pants up and our heads held high.

The CU admin, from Benson down to Bohn, have never seemed to be very concerned about the exit fee. I think they may know something we don't know. Or, perhaps, like what corn fan says - they're willing to litigate, in which case the Big 12 stands to lose not only the exit fees, but whatever attorneys' fees come with fighting it.

Looking worse and worse for Texas and it's bitches every day.

Okie St and Texas Tech appear to be making an issue of the new distribution of revenues in the Texas conference.

I believe, under the Geneva Convention, that the captive schools are entitled to visits from the Red Cross on a regular basis. Maybe they can do something about the treatment these poor souls are receiving.... :sad1:

Have you guys thought about this?

Those five North schools signed off on something that UT, OU, and A&M might not collect since NU and CU might not owe one penny?

Could be. But they also might have signed away a couple million a piece for the privilege of staying in a conference they were already members of...

This is mind boggling...what's next? Mizzou, ISU, KjSU, KU and Baylor give up their women to OU, UT and aTm?

Why is A&M considered a big boy?? Seriously, I think Mizzou and Kansas have more athletic panache...

Huge alum base in Texas = lots of TVs watching their games. I think if you get a degree from Aggyland you are required to stay in the state of Texas for the rest of your llife.
