50% for 2 years notice
80% for 1 years notice.

50% x 2 years > than 80% x 1 year.

So the more notice you give, the greater the penalty? Does this make any ****ing sense? Or am I missing something here?

If you give no notice, is there no penalty?

We should go Independent and schedule all the worst teams from Conference USA, Sunbelt, WAC, and all the directions in Michigan -- play all these games away if we have to. Go 6-6 and play in the Worse than the Taco Time Independence bowl. Personally, I think it would propel us towards pac dominance, or at least be incredibly hilarious.

There's a certain flaw in your logic...

If CU gave no notice and simply left, the conference could sue for breach of contract and get all kinds of damages that would far exceed the liquidated damages. Teams play 4 road conference games each year. Imagine if those 4 teams had CU on their schedule, sold a bunch of tickets and spent all kinds of dough to prepare for game day, then CU doesn't show. If NU quits without notice, there are not enough teams in the conference to have a CCG. Big time consequential damages.
