Pac hurt recruiting

Does moving to the PAC 12 actually hurt recruiting in that we'll be losing lots of CO players to the west coast schools. Mustoe and probably Berlund to UCLA.

Recruiting is simple. Win and you can pull from anywhere. Lose and watch your pipelines shrivel up.

That is part of it. But the current staff has a really weird recruiting strategy. It is like they throw darts on US map and go from there. No real rhyme or reason of which players they offer and when they offer them.

As far as the original post goes, the Pac-12 move will make the in-state recruiting more competitive, but it is just the nature of the beast. Until a new staff comes here, the in-state recruiting will suffer big time.

I think this staff is all over the map because they need to take what they can get. I'm not sure many of them had a very solid recruiting presence anywhere, coming from Boise when they did. Maybe someone can clarify that.

We will lose some kids to the Pac with the move, but Colorado has a strong presence in California, and I think what we might lose in-state, we can make up for in California and Arizona with this move. That said, nothing is going to change until the staff changes or shows they can win.

It seemed like we used to lose more players to Nebraska, Texas, etc. in the 90's and first half of the 00's. The trend really seemed to reverse about 5-7 years ago and accelerated in the last few as Oregon, Stanford, Cal were poaching more Colorado talent. Plus, we were already recruiting against them for California talent.

Not only does this not hurt recruiting, it levels the playing field.

When a kid has a chance to go to Stanford on a scholarship, he has to take it. Anybody else in the Pac has nothing on CU when it comes to getting kids from Colorado. It's all about who's running the show. Any recruits we lose to Pac schools will be 100% due to our coaching situation.
