Buff fans:
Ugh. I'm so sorry Buff fans. Now you know what we have lived through in Utah for the past 30 years. These guys posing as Ute fans (Uterus and Utahman) are as annoying as they are in Salt Lake. No surprise though, that's just byU.
byU has been a leech on our backs since Arizona and Arizona State left the WAC in '78. From the birth of football in the late 19th century up until the late 70's, they were nothing; they were not our rivals nor anyone's rival. Prior to 1922 they were a high school (Brigham Young Academy). Now that we have finally removed the leech, we want nothing more of them. Let them suck the blood of their new rival, Boise State.
A little more history, in the late 70's Utah was down, ASU and UofA just left, and BYU just picked up LaVell--a Utah State guy from their good years. byU had no competition in the WAC from '78 to the mid '90's. byU egos got so inflated over beating teams a la Boise state in our era, that they actually still think they are relevant. Once Utah revived its program in the mid 90's and CSU turned it up a notch, byU went back to being mediocre. They are a pier embedded in the sand, positioned slightly above water at low tide. When the tide comes in, they get buried. When the surf is low, they can get their nose above water but their ceiling is low. They consistently made the conference look bad by winning regular season games, then loose embarrassingly in bowl games. They hold one of the worst bowl records in the nation. Their idiosyncrasies and strict policies hold them down like wet sand on that old pier. They will never rise more than slightly above the low tide and it frustrates them. Their only claim to fame was a year in the mid 80's when their schedule was conducive to going undefeated (only time in their history I might add and they have never beaten a conference champion). Not a single team they played that year finished ranked. They were known for running up the score against poor teams to make their stats look better than they were. Its a smoke screen and the wind just blew in. A return to irrelevance.
Now that you know their history and how bitter they are that Utah is joining CU in the PAC, let us all have a collective goodbye and good riddance. May they reverse evolve back to a high school. I appreciate those on this board who saw through the fluff and called out the trolls.
The Utes are looking forward to renewing regular play with our ancient rivals, the Colorado Buffaloes. Go Pac 12!
