No Buffaloes for Buffs as camp opens

The Colorado football team opened fall camp Thursday evening missing a part of their tradition during a two-hour practice.

 Okay Dan, when are you going to "earn your buff"? He should take any cu patches of his hates, shirts anything. I like the thought, but coming from him makes it a joke.

Whatever works.

My edit button appears to be gone so I'll quote.

Whatever works. What he was doing in the past certainly wasn't working. I like to see that he's making some changes in his approach.

I love stuff like this. Loved it when I played, love it now as a fan. I hope this becomes a CU camp tradition.

(Dan doesn't get his until the Buffs secure a winning season this year. I'll mail him a Buff helmet sticker when they do.)

Seriously. While I like the idea (even though it smells of BoPeep's blackshirt antics, you can't argue with success) seems to me there is one person in particular who most needs to step and prove himself.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but:

This is Hawks way of earning his Buff. Think about it, it's his job to motivate the players. He's been atrocious at getting them motivated in the past. At least he's making an effort, and while cosmetic, I get the underlying message he's trying to convey. This may be the first thing he's done all year that I agree with and support.

Is earning a sticker that much of a motivating factor? Wanting to win more than losing isn't motivation enough? Christ all****ingmighty. These are grown ****ing men, and they need the loss of helmet stickers to motivate them? We're in sorry ****ing shape.

I think you do whatever you have to do. If it were me, nobody would get their buff sticker until after we dismantle the goats. I couldn't care less how well they practice, so long as they bring the wood come game time.

GB did it and got results. For once, DH seems to have performed a self recto-craniectomy...

I don't care what they do as long as they win. Wear pink. Whatever.

I like it and and honestly the guys need some motivation. If it will get them to work hard in camp then its worth it. They haven't been playing with much attitude or passion since Dan got here. I like the fact he's trying something different.

I got a bumper sticker last year. I guess I didn't do my part though cause this year I received nothing but advertisments.

however indirectly, it does acknowledge that there is a gap between expectations for Colorado football and what Hawk and Co. have produced on Saturdays (and Fridays, too).

This is kinda nonsensical. We didn't have Buffaloes put on our helmets until the first game. then the managers would strip them off for repainting every friday. Why waste stickers for practice anyway?

You've seen what BCS is willing to do for rep, right?

Great point. Wear powder blue and earn the BnG.

It's symbolic. It's not the buck fifty sticker, it's what it represents.
YOU ... ARE ... WORTHY.

I actually really like this. Showing up and running into a few guys during practice doesn't automatically make you a buff. It's more than that. You have to earn it, prove it. Nice.
