"Did we really just Skype Mike Bohn?"

:woot:

"2010 will most likely be our last year in the Big 12," he said, and told us that "Phil DiStefano and our team of lawyers are down in Dallas right now resolving our exit from the Big 12.""

To the parting question of, "So who's going to be our starting quarterback?" Mike Bohn had this to say: "For anyone who's been paying attention, I think that's already been announced in a lot of ways... I truly believe that Tyler Hansen will be our starting quarterback on September 4th when we take on Colorado State, and I hope to see you there."

That is REALLY weird.

that is great news. I like that the inside of the CEC will be updated by the 1st game.

You mean the "paying attention" part?

Well there was the article today, which contrasted three months of the Head Coach basically saying it could go either way. So that is kinda weird.

A shot at Danny?

DiStefano is negotiating our exit??? ****. Not only are we going to end up paying out the ass in exit fees, but UT is going to end up owning Old Main, the south campus, the Pearl Street Mall, Crested Butte and at least 2/3 of Summit County....

I thought it was weird that the AD is announcing who the starting quarterback is going to be.

An important part of expansion is galvanizing the fanbase, he said.* As an example, he pointed out the 23,000 alumni who live in California, "I'm not trying to call anyone out, but before the conference switch, of those 23,000 alumni, only 97 were members of the Buff Club." [i.e. having given $100 or more to athletics]* "Now it's not all about money, but those numbers can be a good measure to see where your alumni are at."

WTF? Come on California alum. What's the problem?

Cost of living is higher.

That means the turnout for CU games played in California will be pretty good, then.

It's hard not to spend $100 at a bar.

Time to revise that California blather: "CU doesn't need to travel well in the Pac 10 because we're already there...on food stamps. CU on cheapskate hill!"

That was a joke dude.

I know my dad stopped giving money to the university after they revoked my sister's instate tuition after she broke her back and needed financial assistance from my parents because she was unable to work for a year. That's on top of the tuition she had to pay for the semester she had to withdraw from.

Also, I know lots of people probably were pretty turned off by Gary Barnett and the scandal.

A little nudge to California alum:

The University of Colorado Buff Club is the fundraising arm of CU Athletics. The Buff Club provides an avenue for our members to invest in CU's student athletes and intercollegiate sports programs. One hundred percent of every gift ensures our student-athletes have the opportunity to earn a first class education, compete athletically, and represent the intrinsic values of the University of Colorado on a global level.

The Buff Club has been home to Colorado’s most devoted fans since 1956. Today, the Buff Club continues in its steadfast commitment to providing educational assistance for all University of Colorado student-athletes.

The support of Buff Club members is critical to the overall mission of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Our 6,800 members generate over $7 million annually in educational assistance for all CU student-athletes who proudly wear the black and gold.

Buff Club members provide student-athletes with opportunities for growth and excellence both in the classroom and on the playing field. Buff Club members play a key role in building the foundation of success, by realizing that it takes more than cheering for the Buffs on Saturdays to uphold our tradition of commitment and integrity. It takes a financial willingness to assist.

For information on how you can join the Buff Club and provide financial support for*CU's student-athletes, please call 303-492-2200, or 800-621-2833. THANK YOU & GO BUFFS!

By way of a best in class comparison: The Longhorn Foundation charges $150 for membership.

In the 26-year history of the Longhorn Foundation, which now boasts 13,000-plus donors, more than $293 million has been raised for student-athlete scholarships, academic services, sports medicine, facilities and all other facets of UT Athletics.

Mike also gave us an update on the new CU Basketball practice facility that's being built, "construction is going well, and the renovations to Coors Events Center are going great, as well. Everything's going to be ready for the November 12th season-opener, it's a Men's and Women's double-header. We're adding ribbon boards and a screen, and bringing back the fly-away goals; you're not going to recognize Coors Events Center."

What are Fly-away Goals?

What are Fly-away Goals?

Baskets that suspend from the roof and can "fly away" to the corners when you are done using them rather than the big bulky rolling baskets they have to bring out now.

Mike saved the best for last, he announced that, "I'm proud to say that for the entire season, our home uniforms will be in honor of the 1990 National Championship team and the 20th anniversary of our football National Championship. It'll have that big, bold ‘Colorado' across the front of the jersey, and the more traditional helmet color; it's more of a bronze than a gold, but it just looks right. It's different than our current helmets, which got a little tinge of green in them last year. I think it's going to be that Colorado ‘championship look' that people remember and are accustomed to." [In case you didn't notice, those jerseys went on sale today.]

I KNEW the helmets looked ****tier last year! **** the Green, that is CSU's color.

That is what I thought. Dont those baskets react differently (ie. rim forgiveness) and the parts that suspend them obstruct the view from people sitting in the ends of the court? I believe this is why no one uses these types of baskets anymore.

I like them. You can pack a lot more people down in by the court. It also really improves the view of your side of the court if you're sitting behind them, but might make it a little harder to see the other side. Duke has them, and they dont have any trouble scoring on them.

I guess since I have seats on the first row I may like them too, They have always been there, but they are never lowered, does anyone know if they just fixed them or if they installed all new ones?
