I just flipped through the lame ESPN Magazine's college football preview. Buffs are picked 12th in the conference. I haven't seen any other previews, but I suspect CU is not getting much respect from most of 'em. I honestly do not get it. I mean, I do get it, but don't think the prognosticators are really spending much effort on analyzing CU. For instance, ESPN The Rag had this in depth analysis of the Buffs: "OT Nate Solder, elite. OL that gave up 44 sacks in '09, not so elite." Maybe they should give some credence to the fact that we return everyone and have two linemen on the preseason All Big XII team. Also, maybe a much improved receiver corps will help reduce the sack totals.

**** like that gets me fired up! There is nothing I would love more than to be able to say "I told you so!"

Show me a 200% improvement and I will be shocked. Nothing less is acceptable.

is this another of those bumped 2009 posts? :wow::smile2:
You have GOT to believe, brothers and sisters! I have SEEEEEEEN the FUTURE and the future is BRIGHT! DO I HEAR AN AMEN?!!!!

Listen, I'm not sure how this will play out. I ALWAYS am way too hopeful at the beginning of the season. And I sure understand why we are getting dissed. But I have a ton of arguments in my mind as to why the prognosticators might be wrong. But we've hashed all that over and over and over.

My point is not that we will shock people. It is that as poorly regarded as we are that IF we do turn out to be way better than folks think we will be, that we will shock them as much as any team in the country. Things are set up for us. All we have to do is win.

It will shock me if Hawkins actually comes through and has a winning season for a change.
Thats my point. No one thinks Hawkins can get it done. If he does you and the rest will be in total shock. Not saying it is going to happen. Just that if it does, well...............

The last couple years the mag has gone downhill in all of its sports preview issues...

If Hawk goes 7-5 is that really a building block going into the Pac 12? I don't think so.

Yeah. Instead of any kind of in depth analysis, they find some dip **** blogger to write one frigging sentence to sum up each team. What a joke. I only get it because I went ahead and got "The Insider" deal.

Yea I have the insider deal too

Put your money where your mouth is...do you think Hawk will get it done or not?

They had another analysis that ranked the Buffs linebackers as the #11 unit out of the Big 12. The reasoning was "last years back-ups are now starters". That is some high quality journalism right there.

I've been in shock for 4 years, so why not again this year.

 that's pretty much where I'm at. If we lose to CSU I'll have to drink heavily, but if we win I'll be that much happier. If I go into the season expecting failure it just won't be as fun. I'll be expecting it to come crashing down every week and that just isn't how I want football season to go.

This year is gonna be wild.

We'll either turn the corner under Hawk and become a contender.

Or we'll be terrible again and have the excitement of a new coach.

Or we'll be mediocre and have the fans going nuts worrying over whether the CU administration would be spineless enough to retain a 6-6 coach heading into our new conference.

This is going to be one hell of an interesting year. Can't wait.

I'd love to shock people, where's the taser? Is that the pop we're looking for? Well, CU better handle csu first off. NO EXCUSES. CU has a clear advantage on the OL and DL and experience at QB. Their OL and DL are small, no excuses. I'm sick of CSU,their ugly uniforms and mind boggling arrogant fans. I want to shove an ass whipping victory down every ram fans sheep effing ass.

I'm with Valdez, at least 8 wins and more than a few of those 8, quality wins. Practice hype fires fans up and everybody is excited and wants to believe this season will be the turning point. I'm not particularly negative about this season nor real positive. I'd just really like some results for a change. I'd like to see Hawkins accomplish what he was brought here for (and it wasn't just to clean up the program). He trotted in with a gaudy win loss record, a big smile and plenty of catchy, quotable rhetoric. I've heard the talk now let's have the wins. Prove you belong at the helm of the Buffs ship Hawk.

8 wins. I don't care where they come from. 8 wins is the minimum number needed, in my mind, to retain Hawkins. Any halfway competent coach could coax 6 wins out of this schedule. Hawk has to prove he's more than halfway competent.

I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, I agree. Seven would not get it. Especially after 5 years. If thats all we have to show after 5 years, then show him the door. I agree with that.

i'd love to see the buffs "shock" some people in the positive but I'm pretty damn jaded. I have enough sunshine blown up my ass by this regime and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Win. Period.

i hate to admit my own diminished expectations but while for others the number is "8", i could live with 7. but that would need a top 20-30 recruiting class on top of it. realistically, i'm thinking 6-6 with a bowl named after a candy bar or 2nd tier sport drink.
