Ambitious but rubbish.

Any way to get updates or is today's scrimmage completely closed?

Hearing they want to keep this one pretty tightly controlled. Even our insiders probably won't be able to be as forthcoming as usual.

I think we need to temper expectations on reports and be happy with getting a few crumbs.

:gobuffs:

They really were going out of their way to keep this one under wraps. Let's just say that I work in a building on campus where I could observe the southern end of the field from my lab and all I was able to see were a few solo Grossnickle punts and a single kick return. B-Lock and Jaffee were back to field the kick and B-Lock returned it from the goal line for about 30 or so. I'm not exactly sure how much because he went behind the field house and I didn't see where he was brought down. Grossnickle was only getting around 50 yards or so from the place he kicked on the three punts I saw but his hang time looked pretty good. That's all I have to report.

Riveting. I kid...

Ringo has some twitter updates that are public (more detail on the member board on Scout):

Buffs complete second scrimmage of fall camp with no serious injuries reported and no decision made on starting quarterback.

Coach Dan Hawkins said senior Aric Goodman holds a slight edge to be the starting place-kicker

Defensive coordinator Ron Collins said coaches will establish the defensive two-deep after evaluating today's film

It seems like all of the players acknowledge that Hansen is the starter. Watch the interview of Speedy here:

He gets asked about the QB play and specifically talks about Hansen. Couple that with what Scotty was saying at Big 12 media day and I think Hansen is the starter. I wish Hawkins would just make it official, but he wants it to be done this way for one reason or another.

Hansen said himself that he played the entire 1st half of the scrimmage with the 1's, and then alternated 1's and 2's with Cody in the 2nd half of the scrimmage.

This is either the worst kept secret in the history of college sports, or Hawk is planning on committing career suicide on Sept 4.

Ah yes, the never ending 'conspiracy' theory that Hawkins doesn't want Hansen to start. I mean, despite the fact that Hawk benched his own son and started Hansen as a true freshman, it must be true. And despite benching his own son as a Junior and started Hansen the last nine games of his sophomore year, it must be true.

...or could it be that Hansen has a lot to learn, hasn't actually (statistically) been any better than Cody, and Hawkins Sr. STILL started Hansen because he has confidence in him???

I'm convinced that if Cody didn't have Hawkins as a last name, all of your posts would be complaints about Hansen starting over Cody!

Nice try, Dan.

If you're not paid by the athletic dept, or a close relative of someone who is.... you need a reality check. And if you are, you really need a reality check.

They have video up at cubuffs.com

You'll love the one with Hawkins smooching on Patterson.
Both QB's give a nice interview I think.

Talking up Richardson a lot. Concurs with what I saw at practice and the first scrimmage. Dude can run, jump and has some mitts. Best looking frosh receiver I've seen here by a mile.

Landry Jones still has a lot to learn, too. But there's no QB competition at OU.

Are you serious? Really, is this a serious post?

This sounds wrong, but I just don't know enough about football to dispute it.

I am convinced that if Cody's last name wasn't Hawkins he would be 5th string at Northern Colorado.

2nd string at Colorado is about right.

 what

In the 37 games in the last 3 years, Cody has made an appearance in 33 of them!

Tyler's redshirt was burned as a true freshman to save the season. He had been on the scout team all season and was asked to beat Big XII teams with a handful of plays. Tyler ended up on the bench by the end of the season.

The staff tries to redshirt Tyler for a second time, but after an embarrassing start to the season, we again go to Tyler to save the season against Big XII competition.

Tyler has one seasons worth of experience. Nevermind that during several of the games he's started, Cody has appeared to run the 2 minute offense and to even run a fake WR reverse. What other coach has used the backup QB for the 2 minute offense?
