Only problem I have with this is I still dont feel hes the clearcut #1. I know he has been named but Ill believe Cody isnt gonna play when I see it.

Believe it BuffLuke and try to be supportive of the decision. #5 is Talmadge Jackson II the starting CB for Oregon. He is ranked just behind Jimmy Smith and Jalil as the best CB in college football. Great kid and great friend of Tyler's.

I feel the same way. I think we all know Tyler is better than Cody, but what is that really saying? I still believe we are going to struggle big time this season.

I do think we'll see a lot of Cody this season.

Damn we must have a good secondary, I knew JSmooth and Jalil could play but best in the country? Where did those rankings come from exactly?

Lol @ Valdez. We all hope Tyler tears it up this year, just that most of us think Cody is gonna play come hell or high water.

So what if Cody plays some?

I'm glad a starter was named and I'm glad it was Tyler.
Cody is a decent backup when needed. I don't want Tyler yanked in and out randomly, let him develop his rhythm of the game (for once), but if we need to have a back up we have an experienced guy on the bench.

Im comfortable with Cody as a backup qb, I just doubt that will be the case. Meaning him coming in for the 2 minute offense, things like that. If Tyler is our guy, let him be just that.

I agree with Luke. Cody should be done at CU barring some kind of injury to Tyler, but I don't think that will be the case. Dan will find a way to get him on the field at QB.

if we are up by 30 in the 4th (which i don't see happening, save maybe hawaii) let cody have at it.

From Camera article: "Hawkins is likely to see meaningful playing time at some point this fall beyond his special teams work. Coaches and Hansen noted that it's difficult for a starting quarterback to play every snap of a 12-game season at the BCS level."

The coaches are already setting us up for the fact that we are going to see Cody, and probably not just in mop up duty. If this happens, it is totally unfair to Hansen. Cody is a capable backup, but should not see the field unless needed.

Every time we get seemingly positive news the CU coaches find some way rain on our parade. As positive as I have been about the team this off season, I am continually moved more and more to the wait and see crowd.

what special teams work does Hawkins have? he is too damn slow to do anything but hold for a kicker.

Given how reckless Tyler plays and how good our O-line's been Dan won't need a reason to get Cody on the field at some point.

I have a feeling he's gonna have to run quite a bit. Most olines that are really good are strong inside and thats the biggest question with our line. Thing about THansen is he is alot faster than Tebow, alot of option and bootleg wouldnt disappoint me. Use what God gave him and it isnt a three yard out.

I fear Tyler will almost certainly go down for a bit this year. Hopefully the other team won't be ready to adjust to cody right away.

Tebow is a 4.7 40 guy, not sure Hansen is that much faster, if it at all.

What DC wouldnt know how to adjust to him, all you have to do is get in his lanes and bring some pressure. Doug Flutie had huge hands, good feet, and a very good arm. Unless im mistaken, Cody doesnt have that? Not very hard to adjust to Cody imho.

True but 40 speed is totally different. Plus I think Tyler has quicker feet. He might be a 4.6 40 guy but Im more interested in his escapability. I agree he isnt gonna outrun many people.

if they have a week they can game plan cody, but off the bench in mop-up or relief work he can be very effective.
