I wonder if the photo below is already showing us the divisional makeup?

Sorry I gave NU a little attention on this board but it will be interesting to see how the Big Ten message boards respond to the divisons and speculation on the Pac-12 divisions heat up as well.

I would be a suprised to see a Wisconsin-Minnesota split. The Nebraska-Iowa rivalry is going to be a fun game to watch grow in the coming years.

I don't think they should break up Michigan into OSU.

EDIT: They just announced on 1510 that Michigan and OSU are being put into separate divisions.

ESPN is saying -
Division 1 - Nebraska; Michigan; Iowa; Michigan State; Northwestern; and Minnesota
Division 2 - Ohio State; Penn State; Wisconsin; Purdue; Indiana; and Illinois

I have a feeling its the cooler system like the one we've talked about already for the pac 12.

Yes, you know they will. But I don't think that they should put traditional rivals into separate divisions because that messes with the rotation of cross-divisional schedules.

yep, here are two problems as well. 1. If they do keep playing every year and keep it at the traditional end of the year, you could potentially having them play each other in back to back weeks if they both make the championship game. 2. If they don't play every year, the rivalry could fade away much like Oklahoma and Nebraska did when they split into seperate divisions.

I don't know what it is, but I seriously love Big Ten Football.

They do have some impressive stadiums and traditions, but honestly I find the way most teams play in the big 10, er 11, er 12 ummm boring. I never really got excited watching most teams in that conference play, maybe it has to do with that chick announcer on ESPN that does a lot of their games. I can't stand her, I dont think I could watch if she did a buff game.

I think it is just the traditions of the programs combined with being on a midwest campus in the fall. It really is a fun time. I remember going to Iowa games as a kid when Hayden Fry was there. Just a fantastic atmosphere. People would drive 2-4 hours from all over the state to get there and then pack in Kinnick. That really is a great place to see a game if you ever get a chance.

I see a lot of Nebraska/Ohio st championship games in the near future.

Possibly. I think Iowa will give Nebraska all they want. Also, Penn State is an animal in waiting. Once they get a young energetic coach on campus I think that program will take off again.

Seems like it should have been a natural rivalry all along.

I think Iowa is the biggest beneficiary of any program in the country with the way re-alignment has played out. Those games with NU are really going to be fun and I think should help elevate their program. They have always seemed like they needed a natural pairing in the Big 10.

I remember somebody saying they were like unl fans with different colored blankets (or jumpsuits).

I caught that...I really like those Big Ten Divisions. I used to watch a lot of Big Ten football growing up in Estes Park in addition to rooting for the Buffs. This might get me going on Big Ten football again.

They're going with some form of zipper plan where each school will have one protected rivalry in the other division.

I'm sure it will work like the SEC, where each team has a permanent game in the other division (allowing rivalries to stay together) and then will play a rotating two team schedule from the other division in addition to the permanent game.

Exactly, and there was alot of that talk over the past week on College Football Live that if they put Michigan and OSU in different divisions, then they may decide to move the game to the middle of the season in order to avoid a potential rematch in consecutive weeks at the end of the season. They unnecessarily over-complicate all these divisional alignments, when all they need to is simply put traditional rivals in the same division. It's a simple concept, it really is.
