Is Utah state really doing this?

Can't wait to hear all the excuses at work Monday.

Had the post-game report on radio (in the car). Announcer and commentator playing up how good a football team USU is. Methinks the boomers were either sleepwalking or they're way over-hyped. We'll know for sure next week when the 'Noles visit Norman.

Sooner post-game shows and whatnot after a close win, a game they knew they should have lost, are a bit like listening to a news report in North Korea:

"MOST GLORIOUS SOONER NATION FOUGHT HARD IN WIN OVER EVEN MORE GLORIOUS UTAH STATE EMPIRE!!! THE ODDS WERE STACKED ABOUT LEADER BOB AND HE SHOWED THE WORLD OKLAHOMA IS NO PUSHOVER! EVEN WITH LOSS, MOST GLORIOUS UTAH STATE WILL RISE TO GREAT LEVELS IN 2010 SEASON!"

You heard it too, huh?

Can you describe, to our AB faithful, what it's like listening to Blob Berry? Or the commentator who was having difficulty reading to game stats?

I'm reminded of a story from the Cold War era. There was a car show in Europe. The Soviets had brought a car to the event. One of the car magazines thought it would be clever to to compare the Soviet car with an American car. The American car was so superior by every measure that the "competition" ended up being a bit of a joke.

The report that ran in the Soviet state newspaper?

"In an international competition of automobiles, the Soviet car was judged 2nd while the American car finished next to last."

Sure!

Jones takes the snap and hands off to DeMarco Murray, who finds a hole and is off! He's to the 35, 30, 25, 20... check that, Jones is sacked for an 11-yard loss...

So why do you two live in Oklahoma again??

Because I'm prepared to see Kevin Durant win 5 titles in OKC.

Can't speak for RedDirt, but in my case family matters brought me back and I never left. Some of the people here suck, but I figure you'd find that anywhere. I dream of being back on the front range one day (actually, the real dream is to fall back asswards into money and just open a shop in Buena Vista and never leave central Colo.), but OKC is a solid place to live, got a good job and this state isn't ran by idiot hippies and the taxes are low and cost of living is cheap. Good enough for me.

Let me add that I had many run-ins with Bob Sr. over the years. He is a GREAT person -- think of the sweet grandpa who tells the occasional dirty joke. He's just a good, wholesome guy. He probably should have retired 10 years ago, but he lost his wife to cancer around 2003 or so; I can't blame him at all for burying himself in his radio work.

I know his skills have diminished greatly, but he was definitely one of the great ones.

And oh, my bet is on Bob Carpenter (current Washington Nationals pbp guy). He did Big 12 hoops games forever and was tight with the OU admin. Either him or Jim Ross of WWF fame. They'll get a nice name to replace Senior.

when i lived in Norman for 3 years when my mom remarried a Norman guy, i worked at the golf course there...and met Bob Sr. many times. good guy. sad to hear about his wife, i took tennis lessons from one of Bob's sons. not the one on TV....but, i didn't like tennis much. i also knew Merv Johnson's kids a bit. I assume Merv is still on with Bob.

Yup, Merv is still on. He's the worst color guy ever. I would hope for the OU radio network's sake that they bring in both a new pbp and color guy together -- Merv sounds like he works at a morgue.

"Yup, Bob. That was a good run there." That's basically his color analysis.
