Breakfast with Mike Bohn tomorrow in the OC...

CU alumni assoc is having a big California tour this week all throughout the Golden Smog state. Tomorrow our fearless AD makes an appearance at the OCCU alumni breakfast shindig in Anaheim.

Do I dare mention how much teh suck Invesco Game is and how it makes baby Ralphie cry to play in that Orwellian sh*thole of Denver rather than in beautiful Boulder every other year for the Sheep game? I'm sooooooooooo namedropping Allbuffs (except Jimmy that dink) and getting reaction on my gopro HD camera. Any other questions from the audience for tomorrow?

Poll forecoming

Ask him what he's doing to get the current students more engaged so that they'll be long time season ticket holders after they graduate.

I'm curious about some things on the financial side. Is Bohn still pursuing stadium naming rights (i.e., Folsom Field at Conoco-Phillips Stadium)? Are there plans in place for new scoreboards at Folsom since the current ones are outdated? What's the best case scenario for when we could add baseball/women's lacrosse? And, of course, are negotiations still ongoing for CU to join the Pac-12 in 2011?

Ask him whether bad ticket sales at Invesco give him an "out" with respect to the CSU contract and whether he can move the games (at least the CU home games) back to Boulder.

As long as they don't start ID checking for the senior reserve seating so my kook ass can sneak in, I'm totally down with status quo for the season tickets for students hahahaa

Sidenote to that....Sacky, from what I remember, CU has one of the largest student ticket allotments in football. Is that wrong information?

Ask him if changing conferences allows a loophole to discontinue the CSU series due to the number of conference games. Emphasize how many CU fans are opposed to continuing the series. Feel free to reference the Allbuffs polls.

My question has more to do with creating a sense of ownership and pride with the students that this is their school and that they are Buffs for life. That paying their $120 (or whatever it is) for a student ticket is just the start. That they're expected to buy season tickets after they graduate, and that they have some kind of plan in place to allow that for a reasonable price. This is how they do it in places like Texas, Michigan, Tennessee, etc. The students are ingrained with the concept that they are part of something much bigger than themselves. I'm not seeing that at CU, but it would go a long way towards getting the stadium filled every week regardless of opponent.

Kid across the street graduated last year and applied for the lowest level of season tickets and was told not this year.:wow:

He called a couple of times and can't get a straight answer.

Well, see, this is what I'm talking about. We HAVE to get these folks involved. It's imperative that recent graduates keep coming to games.

Epic fail on the part of the AD for your friend across the street.

As referenced in another thread, the Alumni Assn needs to get better at involving the younger alumni. Should be easier in the Pac-12 than it was in the Big XII. Now, I'm in the silver-haired old **** column these days, but an organized tailgate at away games for people who don't want to shell out $30-$50 for a rubber hotdog and a flat beer should be considered.

Cheap alumni/Young alumni tailgate is a fantastic idea. Also suggest thhe idea of switching up CSU with AFA and Wyoming OOC.

The alumni association has done a miserable job in connecting to recent graduates. They don't offer any real benefits to a 23 year old whose just starting out on his/her career. They offer $15,000 two-week trips to Antarctica and African safaris, but nothing that would be of interest to somebody who might have a vacation budget of around $1,000/year.

Bus trip to Utah or some close game every year could probably be done for under $500 w/ a tailgate and 2 nights lodging... With a healthy profit. Hell the ski club pulls off trips to jackson hole for 300 for 4 days skiing + ridic booze!

Ask him where the paperwork is for folks to join the Buff Club.

If he points you to the Internet, then let him know that the AD is not trying hard enough. It's easier to strike when the iron is hot. Everyone at these events should be given forms to join the Buff Club when they hit the door.

The alumni association got rid of Ron Stump last year, expect things to start changing slowly. Stump was a blithering ****ing idiot.

Some of the talk going around last year was that they should have also fired the person(s) that hired Ron.:smile2:

I honestly think that should be the local alumni chapters' job, not the AD. Norcal Buffs organized a bus over to the game, but not much else. Pretty lame, imo.

I have absolutly zero respect for Ron Stump. That guy completely screwed over the University when dealing with the Fraternities and Sororities. This is a guy who had absolutly no respect for any of the students rights, and when we called him out on it, he basically said, "Take me to court, you will probably even win, but not after I will drag out the hearing, and drain every dollar you have, effectivly killing you". That was his view on students rights, I am incredably glad this guy is gone.

We have an alumni association? :smile2:

I wanted to be involved with CU after I left, but frankly, I couldn't afford it. That's how I found Allbuffs.

I still want to be involved with CU, but I still can't afford it

amen, he was the worst.

I believe CU has ~12,000 student tickets available for football season - for comparison, I'm pretty sure the largest student section in the nation is at Texas A&M which is over 30,000 students...they take up all three tiers on one side of Kyle Field...

Is that bald usher with the red beard still at the bottom of 116/117?

Completely agree. As a recent grad I feel let down by the University. I want to participate but It's like a frigin treasure map where half the map has faded due to sea water. It's a frigin nightmare. Luckily I feel enough of a connection that I try hard to find local alumni and events. I was forced from CO due to a job and lack there of in the state. If I could find a job I would be in CO and be at every game win or lose.

I will give CU credit as they did offer me season tickets at a reduced rate since I graduated in the last three years. Unfortunately, I don't live in the state so it didn't seem like a good investment with a non-disposable income. In a few years I hope to be able to get season tickets and donate them and use some of them. I also have the dream of being/starting a connection for younger alumni/recent graduates to become involved as I was very involved with the school when I was a student. If anyone is interested in the Bay Area give me a shout. I would like to get more involved with the NorCal buffs since they seem to do a decent job but there is always room for improvement (not a criticism and no offense intended)

Forever Buffs

In November 2008, the Alumni Association launched its Forever Buffs initiative by discontinuing its membership dues program and welcoming all 240,000 alumni and 24,000 undergraduates to a lifetime of services.

Forever Buffs strives to create stronger professional and social networks, develop a culture of giving and service and foster a stronger sense of CU pride.

Students receive access to alumni-sponsored scholarships, invites to events, leads for internship and job possibilities and opportunities to ask alums for advice in person and through Forever Buffs Network, an alumni-student online community.

The association also has more than 6,000 student members in The Herd, the association’s fee-based student arm, which provides students with positive memories and connections with others through their events.
