If there is one coach other than Hawk that must go, let me nominate Denver Johnson

Math - how does it work?

The OL is terrible. Just horrible. No holes to run in, no time for Hansen to make his reads. They've got a few really highly rated guys on that group yet they're not playing like it. Soft, slow and generally uninspired. Easily the most frustrating group on the team.

Agree on Johnson, but Riddle and Collins should follow. Those two have bother been here all 5 years and still those units are an embarassment. I don't give a flying f**k how good a recruiter Riddle is, if we can't coach the players any better than this, it doesn't matter how talented the players are. And letting Brown leave for Arizona was a monumental blunder.

This is why Hawk must go now. He had his chance in the offseason to make obvious (to everyone else) changes that had to be made. At the very least Denver and Riddle should be collecting unemployment right now. Instead, he chose to stay with the status quo that has generated two road wins since he has been there. Hawk deserves what he has coming.

The entire staff can go as far as I'm concerned. I do not think any coach should be back in 2011.

I'd be all for keeping Cabral, but if a new coach wants an entire new staff... well I'm all for that too.

i love BC, but by any other measure of coaching staff changes....it's far more likely the new guy totally cleans house. no reason to take it personally. BC has had a great run. if he stays, awesome. if not, that's the way things are. his tenure here through 4 coaches is far more an outlier than the norm.

And yet Hagan sent RS in there over and over ! :bang:

Once again, we are making superfluous arguments. OK, go ahead and scream and yell about who should or should not be gone. Those decisions are way beyond any of our, probably, cone of influence. All we can do is voice our displeasure about the state of the program. Personnel issues will be what they will be. Que sera. :smile2:

Once again, you're being annoying and trying to control the conversation on this board. If you think a topic sucks, don't read it.

Let's look at the W-L records of the assistants in their careers in games in which they were a full time coach (from the CU Media Guide) thru 2009:

Cabral: 145-96-4 (CU)
7-14-1 (Purdue)

Kiesau: 16-33 (CU)
33-17 (Cal)
9-13 (Utah St)

Collins: 16-33 (CU)
53-11 (Boise)

Prince: 33-6 (Boise)

Ambrose: N/A (1st season as Div I coach)

Bandison: 16-33 (CU)
53-11 (Boise)

Hagan: 23-39 (CU)

Johnson: 3-9 (CU)
15-17-2 (Miss St)
12-30-2 (Okla St)
3-8 (Oklahoma)

Riddle: 16-33 (CU)
53-11 (Boise)
26-40-1 (Army)

I still absolutely love Cabral-- he is CU Buffs through and through!!!

The verdict is out on Ambrose, but from the things I've read about him, he may have a bright future. But we'll see how the DBs do this year under him.

Kiesau had some moderate success at Cal, but has been a failure elsewhere.

The other coaches' "success" seems to all have been at Boise, and I think the entire country has seen that success is completely due to Chris Petersen and the coaches that remained there.

And finally, in relation to the title of this thread, look at Denver Johnson's record. Ridiculously bad!!!!!!

Cabral's a no-brainer. Ambrose is an unknown (but might have a future). I think Bandison has done some good things with the DL in spite of his CU record. Hagan, I'm sorry to say, has not worked out as an RB coach. It was painful to watch DH Jr. put the final nail in the coffin yesterday!

Unquestionably, outside of Cabral (and possibly Bandison and Ambrose), the staff (by virtue of their records) are an abysmal failure!

I sent Denver Johnson an email and told him he should do the right thing and resign. Perhaps we could fill his inbox. Denver.Johnson [at] Colorado.edu

Pure class.

I don't believe telling someone they should resign after consistent failure is a classless move whatsoever. In fact, in most cultures, resignation would be the only honorable thing for DJ to do.

If you think about it, if CU truly does have talented OL's, he's most likely costing them a chance at earning a better salary in the NFL.

The sad thing is, Steve Marshall was available when Grimes resigned, and I rather doubt Hawkins even knew who he was, let alone thought about offering him the OL coaching job. The O line wasn't that bad yesterday, but Denver Johnson is a dime-a-dozen coach. The OL coach needs to be the best technician on the staff.

Edited the e-mail address. Spambots feast on e-mail addresses entered correctly.

I will admit I was torn in this case, though...

...:wow:......

It will never fail me to see how ridiculous sports can influence people's behavior. I have no idea how old you are, but you and the person that sent the email asking for a resignation sound extremely immature. Sad part is both of you are probably thirty or more. I can't believe that people can find sports so offensive that they take it personally. I bleed CU black and gold, and I can't stand Denver Johnson or much of the staff. However, to personally send him an attacking email telling him to resign is out of bounds. You need to learn to separate your fan-status from real life. This is a game. Yes, the game is passionate, but in the end a game. People will always succeed and fail in this game, so to personally harangue someone for their failures is classless. You're telling me there is no other way for you to express your displeasure? You're saying that this man's job performance, no matter how horrible it is, so personally effects you that you have to ask him for a resignation? These players and coaches are still people, and the abuse (as well as praise) they receive astonishes and at times abhors me.

I'm in agreement w/ DBT on this one. An email to the AD stating your displeasure in the coaching staff is well in bounds. Sending an email to an individual coach and asking for their resignation shows little to no class. Whats next... threats on his answering machine?

No one more annoying than you, my boy. You know all, see all.

Let people vent. Making several posts over and over again that what they say is not gonna change things is stupid. People have a right to be pissed, so they will voice their displeasure. You change your tune about five times a day now.

I didn't think the line was bad against CSU, but yesterday was a different story. And after seeing what Nevada did to csu, I think Roosevelt high could block CSU as well as the buffs did. We're supposed to have these great guys on the line but they sucked balls!

Oh please. Perhaps you should take a few moments to try and comprehend what was written before you completely overreact.

All I did was state an opinion based on my experiences with, and knowledge of, how many other cultures would view that specific behavior (asking for a resignation). Not one thing I've written suggests for one second that I:

a. would do the same thing myself (never would)
b. demonstrated, or felt the need to demonstrate, my displeasure with the staff (never would)
c. let the game affect ME in anyway (it didn't and never will)
d. let the coaching staff, or any member of, affect ME in anyway (they haven't and never will)
e. blurred the lines between my fan status and real life (never will)
f. said there was NO OTHER WAY to voice one's displeasure. (never did)

Disagree with the premise of the argument fine....that's what arguments are for. But don't make moronic assumptions, attack me personally, and then condescend to me simply because I took a position you disagree with. Now THAT is immature.
